Whoever took that photo must've had their camera a foot above the water. English Bay beach is below the horizon!

Hey! I was just looking through the Winnipeg diagram and wondering if you were still around. Glad to hear you're still at it.

I did notice the new building on colony, Solara(?) needs a diagram

Downtown Kitchener

One from the Franklin overpass above Highway 8. Progress on 1055 Weber can be seen on the right.

Also from the Franklin bridge, but with 10x zoom - MPH visible from here, which is why I think it's now fully topped out. Only so much heavy lifting the sunset can do for this. This building, along with the projects lining this section of Highway 8, do provide for a much more urban feel coming into the city via car by extending the density further south.

Tek Tower is a legend. I see it from all angles of the city: When I am driving on the 7-8. In the countryside, from Ottawa St and Highway 7 going towards Guelph and from the parking lot at Conestoga Mall. Bonus tip: if you view it from the skinny side from afar, it makes it look taller, and almost for a second tricks your brain into thinking it's actually as skinny as those Towers in Billionaires' Row by Central Park, NY. Anyways, stopped by today to snap some pics. It looks like they are just finishing some cladding on the one side, where the construction hoists have been. Would be epic if they finally broke ground on the one that is supposed to be beside it, where the Ziggys is.

There's been substantial progress since this was last updated, Building B is up to 4 floors, with A and C following behind both up to 1 floor.

The buildings entirely enclosed now with interior works underway, with the warmer weather they've started to work on the cladding.

This one is now up to the 4th floor. It took ages to get above ground but that was mainly due to a permit issue from my understanding but now it's going much faster.

Just two shots from the air. Tower 2 is still a work in progress.

I'm way behind on posting these photos but this one is topped out and the crane is down. They've started to do some minor landscaping works along Courtland now that they've completed site servicing works. I mentioned before but Cantiro owns the adjacent properties (red brick buildings) which they're going to partly demolish and put up stacked townhomes. The building directly abutting Courtland is historical (original Schneiders factory) so they can't demolish all of it and will be turning part of it into an apartment.

Northdale Waterloo - East Side

Went to pick up something in Waterloo today and wow this one really snuck up on me. Didn’t know they had made so much progress. I think the blue cladding looks kinda cool and helps it stick out. I often overlook waterloos skyline because it’s not as tall as Kitchener, but it sure is dense, and keeps getting denser which gives it a more urban feel. Also, it seems like so many towers here top out at a similar height, does Waterloo have a height cap?

These are various shots from the last few month, funnily enough the first few shots were taken the same day as KhalilHeron went by, the test section of brick was completed on the University Ave side at that point. The second group of shots has them setting up for the brick along the LRT tracks along with the completed granular pad to allow for construction works for the pedestrian bridge. The mechanical enclosure on the roof was also framed in the second set of shots. April 29, 2026

Both of the cranes are up on this and the underground level is almost complete. It appears this is going to be precast just based on the lack of vertical rebar for shear walls but we'll see in the coming weeks if it is, it'll either be Fritz Alder or Stubbes if it is precast.

KW is definitely growing up. I'm a little bit jealous that you guys have freeways AND LRT. London, almost the same size, has neither.

We do have a very backwards-looking Mayor and council, however.

You're right. I think the photo was taken from around Lighthouse Park in West Van, so they were probably right at sea level when they snapped it.

Without hijacking the thread much, I've lived several lifetimes since I was last on SSP (don't even get me started lol), and had lost my account access stuff for a long time. But gf is an interior designer now, and being around that work reminded me of the itch for this stuff I had when my plan was to get into architecture

I copied the wrong link. I meant the Vive tower on the old Onward Mfg site. It is terrible.

Calgary has such a "Sparkly" look to it, always find the sunset/twilight shots of it in particular cool

It's a good skyline, and part of the reason is that it has a great mixture of building styles: not every building is festooned with fugly balconies.

I’m grateful that Calgary’s avoided the Toronto trends of gimmicky balcony designs and cankle podium heritage retention (where the original noteworthy historic building is treated like a compression sock to the supertall investor condo tower that juts out above it like Trump’s cankles stick out of his shoes).

Our biggest curse is twins and triplets (though Toronto seems to have many as well). I am so tired of matching towers. Bankers Hall and EAP are the only two I actually like. They are noteworthy and add character to the skyline. Sasso / Vetro, the Nuera twins and everything else near the Stampede grounds look like some cheesy version of Sim City. Not jazzed that the new proposed Stampede Station development is also a pair of twins. I’m actually happy that the recession killed Brookfield’s planned twin tower.

A less sparkly pic of Calgary, but one of the rare pics facing out from the skyline toward Kensington

and one from Kensington facing towards downtown.

That's a good angle of Kensington. Its own little skyline forming, with a 9 storey and 10 storey building u/c that aren't in the photo yet.

Beautiful Quebec and Vancouver views as always, and Calgary looks great with all that green in the foreground. Can you imagine if they built a beautiful new outdoor stadium and in another 30 years when North America once again co-hosts the world cup - it would be a great addition and backdrop as a host city. Same could be said for Montreal, just need to drop a couple of American cities. Edmonton a dark horse and a big supporter of Canadian soccer - perhaps Calgary would have that same reputation if they had a Commonwealth Stadium? Anyways back to skylines..

A few from Victoria, although unfortunately the most recent pics come from real estate companies, but some good views of different parts of downtown and new construction as it continues densifying in the core and it's circular density growth radiating out from the inner harbour in a radial fashion. The highest quality establishing shot I could find is from four years ago in 2022 and shows the inner core of downtown but missing recent growth on the edges, parts of Old Town, James Bay, Songhees, etc.

source

Not as crisp, but more recent - Fall 2024 from NearMe Victoria on Facebook

source

This fairly recent shot shows the Telus Ocean construction and area, in the pic above you can actually see from four years ago the excavation of the site just above the words gettyimages:

source of above two pics

The previous pic shows a bit of James Bay on the left hand side, adjacent to downtown and Stats Canada defines it as part of downtown. Sorry for the crappy quality, but drone usage anywhere near the harbour is strictly limited to those who apply for a shooting permit due to the harbour airport and those end up being professionals who license them. Still no excuse for real estate firms using low res versions. So yah, end of rant, back to James Bay and this shot includes one of three old school towers built in the late 1960's and early 1970's that were so hated that only today are height limits being revisited..

source

Moving towards the north east waterfront of downtown looking across the bridge to Songhees:

source

some of the earlier Songhees development in this shot dating back a few decades and was met with a fair bit of criticism. Still it's a nice area to walk around.

source

Moving to the eastern edge of downtown, and in particular the Cook and Yates intersection which is seeing towers of 25 and 15 on the north west corner and 20 and 21-storeys on the south west corner as well as an approved 19 and 6-storey on the south-east corner and finally on the north-east corner a 12-storey plus 6-storey buildings completed in 2024. You can see some recent construction pics below:
