Awhile back someone on this thread asked where the "center" of downtown was or something like that and I, half jokingly, said "the area around the Carl's Jr site." I think that if the Carl's Jr site is developed than, after these projects are completed, that area may start to feel like the urban center of downtown.

All these added buildings on State Street should encourage the state and city to hurry up on the upgrades to the street itself.

Greetings fellow skyscraper nerds! Ever since it was built, I've wanted to visit Taipei 101. Well, just about to take the elevator to the top!

That’s awesome, share some photos!!

On a side note. Maybe this round of economic expansion has a few more years left in to get some of these projects done. Next on the list is to deal with the tarrifs, particularly on steel. I haven’t heard much about steel costs lately. Anyone have some info they can share on construction cost? It’s. Gotta be making things difficult.

I went for a walk today and took some pictures.

SkyHouse Apartments:

Tower 8:
This site was very busy this morning with a steady stream of dump trucks
coming and going.

Liberty Sky (151 State):
Obviously no construction yet. I walked by last week and there was this sign on the property about public comments that has now been taken down. So there is something happening I guess?

255 State:

400 South Construction:

Exchange:

Pierpont Apartments:

Future 370 Millennium tower site:

And this one:

Does the Liberty Sky sign indicate a shift from rental apartments to condominiums for purchase? Does that change the design?

Tower 8 could have been this tall if they lopped off a bay and added that back to more floors. The city needs to implement width restrictions. The proportions of the taller version look better.

Totally agree Orlando. I really don't like how it looks. It's so wide. It will look awful from East and West.

That’s sure looks nice Orlando. Would that be about 470’ tall?

Probably close to 440', but I'm sure it could have gone taller by adding all the square footage from one bay to more stories.

Wow! I didn't know Tower 8 was going to be so wide. Oh, wait. I thought this was looking north at first. I knew it was going to be that wide looking east.

How much does the cost per square foot increase for every floor in height?

Thanks to ajiuO and RC14 for the photo updates. Good weather prompts people to get back outside.

Two thoughts on the width of Tower 8.

1) I prefer to have a wide tower on State Street rather than West Temple, at least it is in the 'back' of the skyline and doesn't block a lot of other buildings.

2) We've heard that they are targeting tech companies for this building, which prefer large open floor plans.

Orlando's taller version is so superior. What a waste.
