What's wrong with the patio dining ordinance (assume you mean the one currently before City Council)?
It added an aldermanic veto point, which of course is annoying but we don't really have a better process to balance the needs of restaurants with other property owners and residents/other businesses on the same street.
Ultimately it's a lot better to have curb lane dining than sidewalk cafes that block the sidewalk for pedestrians and create ADA violations. I'm also hopeful that total street closures will return in places where they make sense (Fulton Market, S Oakley/Heart of Chicago, even N Clark St).
