Toronto is still a very car centric city stuck in another era.
A huge chunk of the population demand that they should be able to take 3000 lbs or metal, glass, and rubber with them where ever they go and aggressively block attempts to urbanize/pedestrianize. Sadly, we'll need to wait a generation or 2 (wait for them to die off) before Toronto gets serious about it and takes steps to undo the damage car infrastructure has done to our city.
I've been waiting 20+ years for it to happen but progress is excruciatingly slow. It will likely take another 40 years before any meaningful results are achieved. 2060?
