That's interesting. I thought this site was slated to be a fire station once again, after it was previously a police station, which before that, was a fire station.
The idea was a part of a proposal put in place in the WFPS 2020 Master Plan as part of the consolidation plan to move Station 13 on Lilac St. to around or near this site.

Description: Brokenhead Ojibway Nation is taking the lead on a new 144-unit apartment building at the former police station site, 1350 Pembina Highway. The complex will offer a mix of market-rate and affordable homes, with roughly 72 units set aside as lower-cost affordable housing. The location is ideal for residents, sitting close to a supermarket, a public school, parks and recreation facilities, and high-frequency bus routes. The project will also include commercial space on the ground floor and a new public rear lane for better access. There were a couple of pick-up trucks and workers on the Cambridge Hotel site yesterday afternoon. They might have been putting up a new fence around the site.
Between all of these developments, the ones at Plaza, and the Parker lands should they ever get started, we are going to have to solve the problem of the Transitway being overcrowded. BLUE is already either the busiest or second busiest bus route in the country, and that's before those thousands of units
In the pipeline are added to the mix.
It’s going to be pretty cool to see two new buildings built right to the sidewalk across from each other on pembina. Especially with the two station place towers looming in the distance. That area will be unrecognizable in just another year.
