This woman lives a mile away from this project freaking north of the 10 and yet calls it "the middle of 'our' neighborhood."

There's so much wrong with this statement it's just an outright lie. Phoenix needs to stop considering these people credible and just ignore them entirely. There's no reason to negotiate with someone who has such bad faith.

This x1,000,000. This is the state of "activism" for the most part in society these days. Idiots have zero intelligible reasons to even opening their mouth, but they just lie and hope the shit that comes out sticks somehow to someone.

Tell the RAA to get bent or just ignore them, and others similar, entirely... which is what I bet the council will do.

Just saw an AZ central article pop up about this and even the comments on there were INSANE.

"Why would you build a Giant Mirror in this state???" ---- What?

"This has no business in any neighborhood! How can this be justified?"

Another commenter simply posted "Why is this needed?"

"They can build this but not anywhere where state money is spent"

I think I can guess what this ilitterate person was getting at but...

And people actually talk about "democracy" positively.

Amazing. That is why representative democracy is better. Hopefully our representatives will do the right thing.

That would help. RAA needs more respectable members as the current President, does not seem to be qualified. For those that heard her speak during the public comment portion of the sub-committee meeting, it was cringeworthy. "What about the flight paths? What about the water!?" She sounded more like an uninformed NIMBY'er than an elected officer representing the RAA. It's unfortunate than Ryan Tempest is no longer the President.

My ex-girlfriend is prime example of this kind of anti-development mentality. Her reasoning was, "Building tall buildings in downtown will bring more cars to my neighborhood. It's already busy enough"

Me: "Uh, what? You live off Greenway and 7th Ave!".

I laughed so hard at her stance. A few of her friends also have this kind of mentality. Unbelievable that someone would think that a downtown high-rise would increase traffic around Greenway. Notice, I said "ex"

I believe the meeting starts at 2:30. Astra is pretty far down in the agenda, so will probably be evening before they vote on it.

They are discussing Astra right now. RAA Pres already spoke a bunch of gibberish. They are acting like this is getting built right in the middle of single-family homes.

I was impressed to hear the amount of retail space that will be included in the development. According to Mackey, it will be the largest amount of retail space in downtown, even over Block 23.

Mackey did an excellent job explaining this project and I had no idea that much retail space was included in this project!!
