^ I believe that was the old YWCA further south on Michigan. They were supposed to preserve the facade and build the tower behind it. Plans fell through, and the building had to be demolished due to its very poor state or repair.

10 May 2018, taken from State Street with 30 E Balbo on the left. You can just barely see the NEMA crane to the left of 41 E 8th and the crane on the far right is for the Hilton Homewood.
Overall it’s turning out great, but I’m just slightly disappointed at how visible the vertical rows of opaque “spandrel” glass are on the long sides. Although I suppose as people move in and start installing different blinds and things they should become less prominent, am I right?
