I've often wondered the same thing. I guess it depends on their financing, the cost to "go slow", and if there is a deadline. For instance, Prosperity Bank funded my loan, they vetted my builder, and completion was set at 1 year. I'm sure we could have extended it, but turns out we only needed 10 months.
Either way, I think it is a smart move. Sometimes it's good to haul butt, sometimes better to slow play it. Just shows how impressive it is to basically sell out the Independent so quickly. Size does matter.
