Not really a canyon, but one of my favourite streetscapes

You construction of Motion has certainly helped the canyon effect on Bay.

Not much of a canyon, but a beautiful sunset down First Street.

Thanks! I wish I had a decent camera though, cause that view is sweet.

The palisser and the bay really give this Calgary shot an "urban" form. By which I mean, "east-coast-ish" in appearance.

Yeah. First Street south of Sixth Avenue is about 80% historic buildings. It's quite a nice yet underrated street scape. The building with the "GRAND" sign on it alone has 1 live theatre, 2 clubs and 2 restaurants in it.

I wish all (or most) of the streets downtown were built to that scale (the height of the streetwall in relation to the width of the road)

More of a cliff than a canyon, but give it a decade or so;

Guess I might as well repost this emerging mini-canyon from the construction thread.

Couple of shots of a canyon located within 15km of Calgary's downtown canyons...

I would prefer just a hair taller buildings. Besides the fabulous architecture, what's great about this canyon is that there are no setbacks on the buildings. It creates a strong uniform apron. Set backs would have ruined it.
