Mexicana has temporarily suspended flights to Mexico from SMF as it battles financial problems. I hope service will continue or maybe AeroMexico steps up to the plate. It would suck to lose service to Mexico. As it stands SMF has no international flights while freaken Fresno's Mexicana flights were unaffected.

Mexicana Airlines has suspended service from Sacramento International Airport.
The temporary service shutdown by the Mexican carrier also is occurring in other cities as Mexicana faces financial difficulties, a Sacramento County Airport system spokeswoman said today.
Airport officials recommended that people with tickets on Mexicana call the airline's customer service number. The airline had four flights each week to Cabo San Lucas and one flight per day to Guadalajara.
Mexicana was the first airline to offer international nonstop flights out of Sacramento when it launched four flights a week to Guadalajara in July 2002. Those flights proved so popular the carrier eventually increased frequency to seven days a week.
The Associated Press reported that more than 500 pilots and flight attendants with financially troubled Mexicana Airlines (Mexicana de Aviacion) demonstrated inside Mexico City's airport Sunday to protest possible layoffs or salary reductions.
Pilots' union president Fernando Perfecto said his organization sent a letter to Mexico President Felipe Calderon asking him to intervene in contract negotiations with the airline.
The company is suggesting layoffs, salary reductions and less training as part of a new workers contract that is looking to slash expenses, Perfecto said. He said air carrier executives have told the union the airline could file for bankruptcy in coming weeks.
No one answered calls at the airline's headquarters seeking comment Sunday, but company executives have said the carrier is going through a critical financial situation and that it is analyzing ways to keep operating.
Mexicana's local airport manager told Sacramento officials that the company is reorganizing.
