Lmao. Does anyone know what's going on with the Milam Building? I've been hearing about it getting renovated for years and haven't seen anything. Same with the Nix building and Intercontinental/Wyndham.

I'm really. excited for this building. Gonna impact the skyline from a lot of angles and (hopefully) will be a catalyst for more/something taller.

I heard that Weston Urban mistakenly did some preliminary demo work on the Milam, as a result they lost their bid to get federal historic tax credits. So, I think the company is regrouping and trying to figure out what to do next....basically in limbo.

The Nix has been bought by a company called InnJoy Hospitality, I think that's all the news there.

The Intercontinental has been fenced off, and there are Whiting-Turner signs posted on the fences, so it appears that renovation is underway.

Ahhh gotcha. Glad to hear the Intercontinental is still going, that'll be a nice addition. Thanks for the info!

Seems like in a week or so, the Milam building will be completely covered from the webcam angle. Looks like they're on floor 18 or 19?

I could be wrong but yesterday when I counted it looked like they started working on the 20th floor- if that were the case that puts it at about 230 feet right now (based on that document at least). I think that height would make sense just looking how at it scales with everything else but that's just me

^^ I think you're right.

And from the webcam's view, it will come very close to the top of Weston Centre.

I imagine they've added another floor since the webcam went down.

Took this picture today while in the SA downtown area. Sorry, not the best photo but I took it real fast.

The webcam is back up! Looks like it's about the same height as Milam.

That's great to hear! It looks like they are now in the middle of the 21st floor I think? Also looks like more of the outer facade is being added which is cool to see

Was messing with my old MiniDV camera a few hours ago and shot this from the top of Hardy Oak by the Mormon Temple. Obviously not the best quality lol but you can see it starting to pop up.

If you want a good view of your city, always look for the Mormon temple. They love to put them on high ground in pricier neighborhoods. Here's the one in Boston... actually Belmont (lifts nose into the air when saying, "Belmont").

Definitely. Hopefully something comes of the Express News site, that area + the lots around Travis Park would fill out that huge gap between the Tower/Rivercenter and the west end where the new stuff is happening.
