Just commenting to say this project has been flying. I can see the construction from my apartment and by the looks of it they're doing about a floor a week

Normally I'm not a fan of taking photos while in traffic but thankfully this project is at one of the least efficient intersections in Halifax so I had a long time to stare. The gold cladding is being installed starting at floor ten.

That gold cladding is an interesting product - it's on the new one on Young Street and it's also going on the newest building at King's Wharf. I like it as a nice change from the usual, but if it goes on every new project it could get old fast.

Hopefully the gold cladding looks better than the faux-wood used on the lower levels.

Drove by this today and it is turning into a box of licorice allsorts. Brown cladding on the lower floors, then matte black, then that “gold” which is really more of an ochre shade with more black above that. We just need some green, blue and red now.

In driving through the city recently, the thought came to me that most of the architects who design apartment buildings in Halifax must have become inspired to follow their career paths from building with Lego blocks as children.

It's kind of interesting to see whimsical colours and blocky protrusions, though perhaps a bit repetitive at times.

My assumption is that a lot of current designs flow from requirements in the municipal design guidelines, 'breaking up the massing' and that sort of thing. I also assume that if you asked the people who wrote the guidelines that wouldn't be thrilled with how they are put into practice.

There are likely people here who actually know how these things work though and I'd be curious to hear from the experts.

I quite like this one. Nothing fancy going on but I think it looks elegant in its simplicity.

I agree. I think it's a solid addition to our skyline. From my Dartmouth east location it's becoming quite noticeable. What is it? Five more floors to go?

Not loving the gold on this one. It's a material that's popped up on a couple of buildings now and has generally looked pretty good when contrasted with black metal panelling. However, with the brown on The Parkland it just clashes.
