11th Street? Child please, there's a 337th Avenue about 70 miles west of Phoenix out in the middle of the desert.

Someone somewhere was way too optimistic about Phoenix's growth potential.

I follow you on Facebook and Tumblr so it's like you never left!

Check this out. What is next? "Widest hydro pylons in Ukraine"? "Heaviest hydro pylons in Uganda"? "Most proximate hydro pylons with red and white paint to the location 43°53'21" N, 81°13'41" W"? "Most oddly shaped hydro pylons in counties beginning with the letter W in states beginning with the letter M, but not if that county's seat begins with the letter D, Q, or Z."

^ After posting all the pictures of hairy men, you finally shagged a bear. Not this human kind, but the ones in the woods stealing picnic baskets! I'd rather not see pictures of you make Yogi Bear your bitch.

I tell you, sometimes, it's really hard to love this place:

Quote:
Irate motorist pulls gun on Detroit fire crew

Tony Briscoe | The Detroit News

June 9, 2013

...

Engine 56 was dispatched to a fire about 6:40 a.m. near Gallagher and Victoria streets, southeast of McNichols and Conant. Nearly an hour later, after firefighters snuffed out the blaze, a local resident tried to drive through the fire scene, where hoses were sprawling across the street.

Firefighters told the man to drive around the block because driving over the hoses could damage the equipment, but the driver didn't want to be detoured and pulled out a gun instead, McMurtry said.

...

The man drove over the hose lines and parked at a nearby home.

Firefighters informed police of the incident and gave a description of the suspect's vehicle, but upon officers' arrival, the man was gone.
And, of course they didn't catch him. Only in Detroit. I mean, seriously, where else does someone feel so comfortable not just to threaten another motorist with a gun, but public safety workers literally putting out a fire? You know this guy is a total crook. The Onion couldn't even have anticipated this it's so ridiculous.

^ The fact that it's just a short blurb in one of the papers and can't be found on any of the broadcast news websites tells you something. Detroit is so fucked up that this isn't out of the ordinary. And if Detroit (city limits) is ever to return to anything resembling normal it will have to combat widespread antisocial behavior that causes those who practice such behavior to wave guns at firefighters (among many other criminal acts) and causes normal residents to flee the city. Fixing that type of attitude/behavior among residents will, I believe, resolve most of the city's problems with crime, abandonment, and perhaps even poverty.

It was in the Tyson/twilight zone way back in 2005, when Kwame ran for re-election. It's light years past that now. Most Detroiters and suburbanites would wish to only have the problems that the city had back then.

So long as we don't invite THAT guy. You know the one who berates us for our déclassé choices in EVERYTHING! May his microbrew be macro, may his organic turn out to be ordinary, may his farm fresh be factory farmed, and may his heritage breed be just plain "hog," Amen.
