i'm driving to lawrence kansas tomorrow. im excited (lawrence is sort of like a tiny hybrid between ann arbor and austin). then on to denver, and then into the mountains.

my mother backed into my new (to me) subaru sunday morning, and about ripped the rear bumper off. (as previously mentioned i am temporarily residing with my parents...)

my idea of late is to attempt to pile up good experiences as fast as the bad shit happens...

Currently I'm TRYING to do my civic duty, I mentioned earlier in May that I recieved a summons for jury duty, I called in on the date specified, May 29, after 5 PM and of course got an automated voice. No problem at that time, I put in my juror number and the voice said "You are not needed at this time, call again on June 5 after 5 PM......OK, now the call isn't going through, I get empty air then eventually a beeping. I tried calling the district courts local phone number but being it's after 5 PM, NOBODY IS THERE.....So now what do I do?

Jeez! You'd think the gubmint would understand how eager you are to serve on a jury so that you can convict some scary looking motherfucker who has done some horribly violent thing. And how convicting said scary violent mofo will not cause you to look over your shoulder fearing his supporting compatriots when passing bus stops or driving through sketchy areas of your small town.

Nope, I suspect you want to be the juror said scary violent mofo thinks of when he is locked up in prison while getting "the business" from Bubba, his cellmate/forced-lover!

Geez rock, that doesn't sound like much fun. I, on the other hand, get to go to Grand Jury duty every Wednesday. It's great fun, and only lasts 18 months.

That link that Cleveland posted says the dropout rate at Rock Island High Schools 50%.....not even close, it's more like 5%.
(BTW, nobody calls it Rock Island High School. It's ALWAYS referred to as simply "Rocky".....But I went to Moline )

West of 11th Street really is bad, though.....I didn't take Ex-I to this part of town on his visit.
