The Golden Horseshoe has completed 40 skyscrapers since the clock turned over to 2020; the greatest period for skyscraper construction in the region. New York has 35 completed in the database without an editor tracking local development. Toronto is just keeping up with New York until the 2024 starts are cashed in. 451 proposals and 2 starts this year.
A taller resubmission of the 49 storey version that has approved zoning. Partnering with the Italian luxury designer Missoni this is condo, hotel and retail on Jarvis Street.
149 College Street | 205.4m | 60s | Northwest Development | Sweeny&Co l pre-construction
705 units of student dorm, market-rate rentals, condos and institutional next to U of T. Very tall for the nabe... wondering if shadowing on Queens Park will be an issue.
The settlement agreement proposes more heritage retention, smaller tower floor-plates and a jump of 13 storeys in height. Located just south-east of Yonge and Wellesley.
Below are renderings of the (previous) 49 storey version.
150 Eglinton East | 236.75m | 61s | Madison Group | Rafael Viñoly l Recommended for Approval
This one now recommended for approval, presumably the first 2 towers(?). A portion of the office replacement has been nixed in favour of affordable rental units.
This one resubmitted much taller with two towers at 47 and 43 storeys. Seems to have retained some colour and material cues from the original mid-rise design. Located south of St. Clair Avenue.
I really like the base of 1303 Yonge, and if they use real green and beige terra cotta, it's going to look amazing. But it's sad to lose that original proposal. That was amazing.
