Here are some pictures I took today of King Edward Station:

(note that the vents for the station are part of the sidewalk. Also, it looks like there will be a building that will fill the area between the two buildings, as they have put insulation on the walls of the autoplan building)
Compare to March 07

(that annoying vent in the middle of the road is now gone!)

Also, that part of Cambie street at the northeast corner of QE park is now finally open! So each direction of traffic is finally separated by the median.

Nice, thanks. The building that will be built in the vacant area will also extend over top of the King Ed Station entrance.

LegoLand gets a Canada Line too! This is a model built for the LEGO Exhibition at the request of SNC-Lavalin and is on display at Science World at Telus World of Science.

The Lego model is very cool.

Unfortunately, as much as I like the airport station, I can't stand the look of that triangle shaped...thing over the escalators. Why not just build a proper roof/covering?

Am I the only one at the end of my rope with how ENTIRELY ass-dragging slowly the Canada Line is at getting the intersection of 2nd Avenue at the Cambie bridge back in order. This one-lane each way thing has really gone way beyond put-up-able.

it's understandable considering Olympic Village Station was the tunnel boring pit, and it wasn't only until a year ago this week that tunnel boring was completely finished and when they began to extract the tunnel boring machine and its equipment out of the station and begin building the actual station. Underneath 2nd Avenue is a part of the station complex.

I've seen that traffic but never driven in it. I have wondered why people don't just avoid the Cambie bridge its not like main street or Granville bridge are that far away.

Yeah, they couldn't start building the station there until all of the excavation of the tunnel bores was complete (its the location where the spoil was taken by conveyor belt from downtown and then loaded onto trucks).
If you want to blame anyone, maybe blame the City of Vancouver for accelerating it from a future station to an existing station.The hole would probably be filled by now if there was no station there.

If 6th Ave. and 7th Ave. are open across Cambie, you could just dodge south and then across and then back down.

I got stuck there a couple of times. One Saturday night going Southbound for almost 40 mins! That forced merge from 3 lanes into one is really dangerous, as people just pretend they aren't looking and just stubbornly move towards you and play chicken when merging. Obviously I'd rather not have my newer car scratched by some rusted ford exploder, so this drives me nuts....and I usually give them hell. On that one night alone, I had 2 people who were literally 5-10cm (the last alarm went off from my side parking sensor) and just kept going.
So I agree, very annoying and it should have been fixed a years ago, as Cambie is a major artery.

its not as easy to get around as one would think

I've done it a few times cause you forget to turn and end up on the bridge without being able to turn around

It'll be a great day when 2nd underneath the bridge is open to all lanes again! I can see they've started the curbs for the offramp coming off Cambie (southbound) onto 2nd.
Anyway, if you take the lane that has to merge all the way to the end of the line, someone will let you in, so the wait isn't always that bad. Sometimes it's just as easy to sit through that then try to short cut up above somewhere...But I learner the hard way NOT to take the Cambie bridge out of downtown. Yuck...

also, isnt the far right lane a bus lane?? yet people drive in it anyway and then cut in front of the line, thats so fuckin annoying. same thing downtown on seymour and howe streets in the bus only lanes from 7am-7pm. you get the losers racing down there while everyone else is stuck in traffic. I wish they would enforce the the bus lane rule or get rid of it.

I totally agree with you - people who don't obey protocol and jump queues need to be stomped on. Don't let them in when they try to merge because they feel they are more important than all the people who politely lined-up and waited over the bridge.

That is actually one of my biggest pet peeves on the road, people who misuse the bus/hov lanes. Selfish assholes.

Only the Hwy 1 lanes seem to be enforced. Wife and I were driving home last night when we passed a stealth SUV which had just pulled over a SOV using the HOV lanes.

Seymour/Howe is bad, but I would also rank Lougheed Hwy in Pitt Meadows as being equally bad. I'm not sure about Hastings, it seems more beneficial to use the regular lanes because of the heavy traffic and buses that stop frequently.

In regards to remaining traffic delays, I say just sit tight. 2nd Ave is bad but I still prefered using it over Broadway or 12th.
