This is true. I think that Isaidso was pretending to be his usual, pretentious self (I cannot even contemplate Googling this for I am far above the commoner fray!) For a guy who pretends to have so exuberently embraced his Canadianess, he seems to have missed the point and retained the worst aspects of his class-conscious English pomposity, however, I digress..

He did underline the fact that we don't all worship this fucking loser mentality of attracting every shitty franchise.. just for the sake of attracting every shitty franchise..

And thinking that, in the process, we've somehow 'won' when in actual fact, we continue to lose.

I do love basketball but have never shopped for basketball shoes let alone bought a pair.
This specialty Nike brand has been around since the 80s. How could you have avoided it so long?

Some people just aren't into brands, and furthermore: lots of people don't buy sneakers as fashion footwear. I certainly don't. Or at least haven't in about 30 years.

I am not a jogger so I buy sneakers for my sporting activities maybe every 5-10 years. I'm not too hard on them I guess.

I have running shoes in my closet that I have never worn. (Nikes/Champs)

My jogging shoes (Brooks) I bought last year, I have worn maximum 10-15 times.

Whenever, I have a day off work I wear my Sketchers. (They get the most daily/kinda abuse)

What's wrong with ad screens and the square in general? It's unique within Canada and ultimately one tiny speck of Toronto as a whole. Might aswell go big with the one area like this. If it's not your vibe go to the other 99% of Toronto. Even that said you can't deny the energy created by the pedestrian activity in the area.

I was against Shoppers buying this property but now that they are adding an element to the building I don't mind it. It's not like there is a lack of places to get a drink around there.

Toronto haters are just gonna dump on the square. Who cares? It serves it's purpose well and it's at the heart of Toronto's retail district. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. Most crappy tourist traps but that's exactly what the Hard Rock Cafe was. No epic loss losing that dieing chain. WHOOPEE!

Maybe OUTOFTOWNER's favorite bar/restaurant was Hard Rock??..

However, It's not a niche brand name and has over lasted 30 years.

Exactly. I don't know how someone posting on a skyscraper forum can mock Air Jordan, etc. collectors.

Speaking of pomposity...

I recognize the often inherent ugliness in following brands and societal trends but this sort of behaviour is nothing new and will always be the case. Appearing that you're above it all hardly makes you clever.

The effectiveness of your rants could benefit from being much less annoying, IMO.

I am aware of Air Jordan and such. But thinking that people are living under a rock just because they aren't is a bit much.

There are lots more significant things that many people aren't aware of that would better qualify as living under a rock.

Who's mocking? But it's not really worthy of admiration either.

I collect maps. Have since I was a kid. Does this impress you guys?

Lining up to give your money to a store that just opened when the same products will there in a few days when there is no iineup is not something that impresses me.
