Looks like they raised the core another level or two.

It is now essentially half way up.....or depending on how you look at it, half way to go.

I like this view from Bockstael's twitter feed... it really fills out the block. Gone is that sad gap between the Cadomin and 360 Main.

Scott Block is a great looking building. Amazing that someone would ever had even considered covering that facade up back in the day.

I know in Toronto they are starting to hate the use of heritage buildings as podiums for new towers, but here in Winnipeg that specific building and the Currie Building on Portage would look great with towers above them.

Once 300 Main is open I really hope someone like the BIZ can convince CDI to open up the front of their building with windows (you can actually see through). That, or move somewhere else.

Anyone know what the cities plan for that last block of Graham is once this construction is done? I really think it'd be best to keep it limited to the two-transit only lanes and expand the sidewalk like the rest of Graham. The sidewalk there is tiny, and is only going to get busier. Also clearly the world isn't ending that people driving SB have to go one more block to St. Mary to get to the parkade entrance on Fort.

The Curry building was originally constructed assuming it to be 8 or 10 storey's tall - so it is definitely a prime candidate for some verticalilty in the future.

That would be spectacular. It would be one of those things I never would have expected to actually happen, like completing Winnipeg Square or the development pads at Portage Place!

Can the Curry building now be expanded due to it being a heritage building?

There's pretty much nothing historic left inside, and even all the window/door bays have been changed from the original. I imagine only the facade is protected, so don't see why not.

I wonder if an upward expansion of the Curry Building would be limited to the 8-10 floors that were originally envisioned a century ago, or could it go a little higher?

^ if they are re-using the original foundation, it would likely be limited to a certain amount of weight. It would need some significant geotechnical testing.

I've always wanted the Currie building to be taller. Even if it was the same height as the Paris building, it would fill in such a gap

And only 2 floors again. Looks like they're hitting exactly the floor needed for the next crane tie.

Also looks great coming over Provencher Bridge into downtown at night. It really fills in a big gap in the skyline and actually makes our downtown look big and impressive. Just need to get more LED lighting on the buildings to make things look more modern.
