Is there any chance that this will spur some need for more office space for the combined company?

Probably with where ever they decide to have their headquarters.... but probably not in Montgomery...

It might be the opposite for Montgomery and Birmingham. There will be a number of branch locations to close. AmSouth has state of the art technology in Birmingham. Regions computers are in the old Union Bank building and AmSouth's technology is considered better than Regions. Regions technology occupies a lot of the former Union Bank building. This is not to mention that in Birmingham that the corporate headquarters for Regions and AmSouth are across the street from each other.

yeah, Montgomery has really taken it on the chin from Region's growth. First they swallowed Union, a local bank, then merged with Planter's, taking alot of local jobs (mostly in the Mortgage division), and now this...

It looks like about a 90% chance that Regions Technology and Loan Operations will go to Birmingham. Technology alone is probably 300-400 jobs in Montgomery. I'm not sure how many are in Loan Operations (in the old ADEM building on Cong William Dickinson Drive).

I applied as a Bank Teller at Amsouth in Huntsville, should I be worried that there'll be a hiring freeze? (I've applied for every teller job opening at Regions over the past 2 months and they all passed me over, and Amsouth gave me an interview and teller test, both of which went very well so I'm just waiting on the final word from HR.)

Although there is lots of new construction going on in the city's more established neighborhoods, the outskirts of the city continue to grow seemingly without letup.

These are a few of the larger developments that I know of that will have 200 or more homes. I didn't list the ones that are 200 homes or less, they're many more of those.

As we learn the names or any other information of the known and unknown developments, please post them here.

A. Unknown development – PUD – plans submitted to planning commission
B. Unknown development – luxury apartments – plans submitted to planning commission
C. Community Village – mixed use development – plans submitted to planning commission
D. Unknown development – PUD – plans submitted to planning commission – turned down by city council; must make changes and resubmit plans for approval
E. Unknown development – PUD – plans submitted to planning commission
F. Unknown development – PUD – roads, sewers, sidewalks, and lakes are currently under construction
G. Taylor Lakes – PUD – under construction
H. Unknown development – PUD – plans submitted to planning commission
I. Hampstead – new urban development – plans submitted to planning commission
J. *Aronov property* – no plans submitted as of yet
K. Ryan Ridge – PUD – under construction
L. Jim Wilson development – mixed use development – plans submitted to planning commission

No, the outer loop will be further south than those developments. A new four-lane connector will bisect that area by design though.

New info: development "L" in the map above will be a new 1400+ acre residential development by Jim Wilson called "New Park".

No mention in email as to whether it will be a 'new urban' project, but I would believe that more than likely, it will be...

bah... the development 'hotwire' has been dead for a few weeks...

the intermodal, the RSA headquarters, the CC/Hotel, and the US Attorney's office are all under construction.

I don't expect to see anything 'big' happen until the Hotel and Intermodal are close to being finished...
