I would prefer these buildings not be covered in pink and green and whatever else. Look like trash. Just like the black stuff will in 5 or 10 years. If you link pink, the burbs have loads of pink stucco!
Buildings are best clad like James Bond. Everything else is for high school prom.

Had this video in my YouTube Recommended today.

It's of Marche Jean-Talon on Montreal, maybe something The Forks Market was supposed to be and what Marketlands "public market" should.

Before anyone gets too excited, most the action on the Market Lands site is for a movie shoot. There is some soil testing going on, but a shoot coming up is going to be replicating a similar streetscape as RRC on the east side to have a full historic block on Princess. Secretly hoping they just leave it up for future facades lol.

As mentioned in another thread, Neo Financial announced they're opening an office in the Exchange. Expected to be 300 people in 5 years. While they said they're going into an old Skip office they didn't say which – I would hope its either 140 Bannatyne or 136 Market, but I have a feeling its in the G3 building as Skip is still holding the lease there and only recently decided they weren't sending those workers back.

Is it fair to say that their planned new building(s) are off the table now?

^ From what I have seen driving past a few times recently, they are building some sort of pre-fab structures. Whatever is going on appears temporary.

It’s a movie set.

It is Winnipeg though... are we 100% sure that this isn't just the value engineered conclusion to this space?

I mean, I haven't even seen it, but my primary question is "Where will I park?"

There were zero submissions selected for the northern portion of the development from the last RFP.

Nothing formal; none of the submissions aligned with the requirements and vision for the site, the northern portion is still open to proposals.

^ Very disappointing news. I hope we don't end up with a half-built site for years to come.

On the positive side, they said no to all the Transcona-eqsure development submissions, they are seeking higher quality infill, sometimes no can be a good thing.

We really do need to live in a world where Winnipeg is more picky, especially in the exchange district. If none of the proposals were good enough and nothing was picked, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Now... if NOTHING was submitted at all because there's zero interest... then we have us a problem...
