They have one guy excavating the site for months? Progress is nearly non-existent...

Is that bedrock?
ie are they just slowly chipping away at bedrock (instead of blasting)?

If it is rock then it's fairly soft. That machine was chewing through it fairly easily. Maybe it's hard packed glacial till?

Is this thing even being marketed? I don’t see the vaguely desperate ads that it’s contemporaries planned for offshore money were running.

It was presold a long while back at some eye watering prices for the time. Not sure how its looking now for total sales.

Its self financed though, so I don't think sales were a worry on how to proceed.

Did this one start digging or did the Butterfly start digging first?

I swear that this one got beat by the Butterfly for a crane.

The excavating for the Butterfly started about one year ago. At that time the demolition of the old Landmark tower was only partially done.

Kind of hard to compare because when the demolition of the old Landmark was done then they were already several levels down when they started digging.

They were running the truck train today - both excavators working full time, and dozens of trucks & trailers arriving every one to two minutes, loading, and then heading up Robson and turning onto Thurlow. Bel Pacific also had a crew adding anchors at the excavated end of the hole, so it was all systems go.

I see they're giving great care in excavating the edges here. Maybe nearing the end of excavation?

Sorry, not a great photo (mine, taken today), but it does show that construction has started. They’ve poured some footings for walls and a few columns, and they’re digging out what I assume is the crane base.

I concur looks like they have started the construction phase and title changed accordingly.

The ramps were located in the corner near the Robson/Broughton intersection with entry from the lane near the middle of the site.

No need to bring in "the red wine lady" Dimswitch, I would say it is under construction.
