100% agree. Let's keep all the activity on the same level. Tunnels and such will detract from the active, lively downtown that has been developing.

Agreed. More pedestrian activity on the sidewalks makes for a more lively downtown. Shade trees can work wonders for keeping pedestrians cool during the summer months, which is why Great Streets is so important.

Yep sure are but limited to the Capitol Complex with restricted access. Many of my colleagues who represent regulated businesses walk from their offices north of the capitol to the south Travis, LBJ, and Austin buildings for meetings. I'm a little closer in the Moody Bank building, but it is going to be a mess in the next few summer months - due to construction and longer detoured sweaty treks to come.

Looks like a number of people would much prefer activity on the surface. I respect that. For me it's not about surrendering public space to cars, I just dread the Austin summer months when it's 95-100 degrees with high humidity having to walk to lunch and meetings, shade trees aside. My co-workers from our offices back east and the midwest love the tunnels when coming down for meetings in Dallas and Houston in the summer! They love Austin in the spring and fall (really late September and October).

This building is now, officially called: "Indeed Tower." The Block 71 name has been stripped.

I just like that it's a pretty significant bulk and height, but not too bulky - farther away from the river. It will look good from many angles, I think. I've not seen a night rendering so far as I can remember.

Yeah, I always thought we needed something of significant height further north away from the river to give downtown more dimension. This and 6X will do just that. But this thing just looks big league and cool to me, except the notches.

I wonder if when this tower is complete, AND especially after 6xG if we will have hoped it was just a bit taller, like we all had with the Frost Tower. Just four more stories and it really would have made the difference! Just a wee bit taller and the...... of this tower really would have stood out! Indeed Tower is very impressive, however Hanover Republic Square will practically be rubbing shoulders in the skyline and will be only some 24 feet shorter. From MoPac, Indeed might not even be seen.

I know a lot of people wish Frost was a few hundred feet taller, but remember what our skyline looked like when it was built. If it was any taller it would have looked ridiculously out of place at the time.

Yeah, meh. I'm okay with Frost Tower blending into the skyline and becoming just another one of our tall buildings. I'm thankful for it because it was one of the first high-rises built in Austin since 1987 and it jump-started our new boom, but I don't want it to define us anymore. I think we've advanced beyond it.

I don't know if I agree with that. In my job, I take folks around town a lot and they always ask about the Frost Tower. I think our skyline is still spearheaded by the Frost Tower. Jenga building might be making a case for it but Frost Tower is still significantly striking enough that it will always be synonymous with Austin.

Especially at night. But beating the proverbial dead horse, if only it was 10 floors taller. Have to think the city leaders had something to do with our stunted 80s - 90s highrises. But that crown lit up at night will always make Frost the stand out among the giants. That crown is world glass...I mean class.

For me, wishing the Frost Bank Tower was taller is purely a comment on its design. It's a design that I think warrants more prominence. I don't quite feel that way about 6 X Guadalupe, The Austonian or The Independent, and I even think The Republic is at the perfect height. I really wouldn't care for any of those designs to be taller than they are. The only two buildings in Austin that I would care to "make taller" if I could would be the Frost Bank Tower and 360 Condominiums. They're really the only two designs I feel that deserve to be taller. 360 is already taller than its prototype in Atlanta "Spire".

I like how it looks like a a pair of playing cards being considered before the bet; very sleek

I do think we need another pointy-topped building.

I believe there is room for more interesting crowns (even if that includes points and/or spires).
