I WOULDNT argue with you on that EXCEPT that the Atlantic's got issues. Namely with it's colors up top - which we were lead to believe would be goldish - not brown with tan sticks in front of it. I'm not sure what there is about BROWN that Novare seems to think looks better than gold. For that, i give Novare a big thumbs DOWN - unless of course there's more progress we havent seen yet.

OTHERWISE, the Atlantic really is a revolutionary design for ATL b/c we really have NOTHING like it, which is great.

Yea, people used to actually take PICTURES too, I'm talking about actual photo compilations, like two dozen plus. NOW, it's like no one's interested in shooting the city, even though it's gotten much more developed.

I cannot wait untill the Atlantic's done & all the Atlantic Station scaffolding's down so i can finally shoot the whole thing. I'd like to finally get a nice compilation of it all - from the Atlantic & BBT towers to the newly painted shops & restaurants. Plus the view from the arch looking up toward the Atlantic is AMAZING, or will be once Atlantic's finished with its two decade long facading process. THAT is what an Atlanta calendar or postcard should have on it - not a picture taken at a place that if you go there at night you get mugged or shot. LOL

I am looking for a professional black and white photo of a recent buckhead skyline looking south; preferably from 400 going south after the tolls.

It will be a gift for my one year wedding anniversary and I was going to get it framed before this Friday May 1st. Any suggestions, please PM me or reply.

WOW. I totally respect your taste & know for a fact that that will be an AMAZING view for you to have! I wish i could take it myself but my camera doesnt have a zoom lense. But as far as ground shots, a view from that bridge on Johnson Ferry overlooking 400 is PROFOUNDLY spectacular & the view from the Westin in Sandy Springs is similar. Good luck in finding it b/c so far no ones shot a professional photo from that vantage point.

Best of luck!

The view of Buckhead from the Wieuca Road bridge is also spectacular.

Botanical Gardens Unveiled:

Transportation may lose federal funding:

If this happens, I am going to vote Democrat in state races. Perdue has accomplished nothing to speak of including the things he has supported.

Did the Botanical Gardens completely can their "canopy walk" project after it collapsed? Or are they still building it.

Its scheduled to open in the spring of 2010. I'm not sure if the entire canopy walk is shown (lower right corner) on the map that was in today's AJC.com...

yes, that is the parking deck. you honestly can't see it from any angle at the Park right now. it's tough to see unless you are on top of it.

the plan is great. glad to see they are shutting down the surface lot and going ahead with plans for that area.

New Restaurant at Plaza Midtown

The former AMORE space in Plaza Midtown is becoming some type of mexican-ish restaurant (I was driving by today, so I didn't get a great look).

The front page of the New York Times (on line) today features a picture and article about our quaint, silly Arc d'Ikea:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/30/us/30arch.html?_r=1&hp

I can hear the scoffing from here.

I was wondering the same thing. When my ministry chauffeur and I drive past on Piedmont, it looks as if the whole thing has been dismantled (some intentionally) and carted away.

Is it just me, or is our state government the most dysfunctional in the country. The fact that LYNN WESTMORELAND is the only member on the transportation committee in congress from GA is a joke. He tried on several occasions to kill the Lovejoy project, and he is an embarrassment to this state for many of his comments in the last year. As for my vote...it will be a cold day in hell before I vote for ANY republican at the state level (you hear that JILL CHAMBERS). Georgia has blown it time and time again on regional rail, so I have little faith that they wont do it again. Sad really
