I asked when I was at the Quigg presentation centre and the impression I got was that while the designs haven't been finalized, they'll all pretty much be the same.

I agree with the "Vertical Sprawl" comment however I guess I would rather see a thousand units on Bear mountain in the form of condo towers than a thousand more homes and loss of more and more trees. I also don't mind the design though I think I would have preferred more of a curved look. Still better than the typical cement stucco look that's so prominent downtown. I guess I'd like to see these in Harris Green.
As far as a million dollar condo, the views from up there would most definitely be worth it. These condos will have the best views of any development in the CRD.
It's going to be interesting to see how noticeable these towers are going to be.
As far as the Telus building goes, why are they going to demolish the dark blue 4 storey glass building at the corner of Blanshard and Johnson? Even though it's short, it's kind of a cool looking building that has always reminded me of the Electra (the old BC hydro) building in Vancouver
I agree that this building is a bit disappointing, but it's still a lot better than what is there now. Unlike the the Richard Blanshard building a couple of blocks north, at least this building is symmetrical and doesn't look like four different buildings all jammed together.
I know Pam Madoff was trying to save those buildings and have them registered as heritage sites. I don't think it happened though. Personally I really don't like those buildings there now. But what's replacing them isn't any better. The more I see that proposal the more I hate it. It's so so so ugly! I really hope the Design Panel shuts them down! If it passes within ten years that building would be a complete eyesore. It's truly awful.

No, I think this building was not on the list of buildings that could be modernist additions to the heritage registry (which is different from the heritage building list). The Royal Bank across from City Hall was considered a possibility along with a couple others I can't remember. I think they will save the century-old granite blocks along the ground floor.

I maybe wrong, but I do remember her talking about them. She did say they should be saved and that they should be considered heritage. This was a couple of years ago anyways.
Finished the Salmon yet? hahaha. I'm going trout fishing soon
The BC Tel building wasn't one of those discussed according to the T/C.
The salmon was great!

The building on Johnson & Blanshard is a neat design in my opinion, but the ground floor is completely closed off to the street. The bay windows are really unique in the city though.
I have been an active participant in many forums over the years and the one thing I have noticed is that as soon as any forum is fractured into sub-categories and then into even more sub categories....it inevitably will slow to a crawl and eventually die.
