I know the bottom is referred to as "the podium" but I never took that literally UNTIL I saw this picture!

Look like aluminum forms ( floor ? ) the poles visible in the background look just like the form systems here in Chicago.

Looks like Burj Dubai doesn't tolerate any skyscraper in its immediate vicinity. Or is it the other way around : no skyscraper dares to be close to the very tall tower.

I guess that casting shadow over the neighbours is not much of a problem in Dubai.

level 156. can someone please change the title for the roof. it's NOT 2,034. i know the final height has not be annouced but update floor plans and actaul digrams show the roof being at 700 meter's at Tier 22. or spire 1/ roof 4. but if u wanna go by tip of maine structure with out the actual spire, it's at 768m but i forgot what tier that is.

change

Hello, Im new to this forum, but have been following it for a while now. Just wanted to mention that the public observation deck on the burj dubai will most likely be higher than 124th floor at 442 meters because the highest observation deck at torontos cn tower which is called the space deck is 447 meters. You can go to the cn towers web site to confirm this.

observation deck

the height of the cn towers 447 m space deck is important because some where an official, or unofffical statement mentioned burj would have the highest public observation deck in the world. It has been mentioned in many places that burj will have the highest observation deck in the world at 442 m, 124th floor. Now either some one made a big mistake, or the real height of burjs observation deck was never formaly announced.

I agree; other than the relatively few people who actually live there, why would someone want to go to visit the worlds tallest building if it doesn't have the tallest public observation deck. Sure, it would be nice to see, but if you get the higher view in the CN tower, then what's the point? Unless you are one of the obscenely wealthy, the Burj Dubai might as well just be an unoccupied communication tower. So I think the public observation deck should be as close to the 162nd floor as possible, if not at the 162nd floor.
