KING Toronto | 57.6m | 16s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group l u/c

Amazing drone set from @hawc. It's rare to see the entire bones of a new build, but thanks to the bankruptcy of the glass block curtain-wall supplier... we get these views.

Love the pixelated pattern on the brick panels of Block 13. Viewed from afar it has a mosiac tile effect, which is really cool. I wonder if they'll to pre-cast or actually lay brick for that one.

Concord Sky | 300.3m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox l u/c

About 4 storeys above grade… with no ‘above grade’ permits lol. One would think that a company (Concord) that built 30 towers downtown in the last 20 years would be able to keep permits up to date for
a super-tall with their name on it.

@Natika33 posted a great skyline pano at UT looking S-W over the Don Valley and they were kind enough to let me do a quick future scribble. Low rez because the photo was only 300k.

I extended the pano (as well as the viewing pov) a couple of blocks north for one last look(?) at the 91 storey The One just for giggles.

^ Is that bridge on the left meant for light rail or street cars eventually?

50 Scollard is one to watch. That cladding looks amazing.

Waterfront LRT, currently and un-funded transit project by the city of Toronto.
I wouldn't expect an LRT to run here for at least 10 years at the earliest as the province is showing no desire to fund it.

So, if I remember correctly, is there not already a streetcar running on Queen's Quay? Is that just on the east side between Spadina and Union Station? I think I saw something recently about the streetcar no longer running on the south part of Spadina and the bus service replacing it being terrible. What's the scoop?

The streetcar runs west on Queens Quay from Union Station (Bay). This is east.
A streetcar running east and into the Portlands is definitely not a priority. It probably won't be a priority in ten years either. The Portland residential districts are a 30 plus year build out in the best of times and right now is not the best of times. I am a believer in building transit first however, that's when the built out areas are already well served.

Toronto has outgrown its streetcars. On top of that, the TTC has mismanaged them as well. For instance, they rebuilt the tracks on Queen Street East when I was a kid and the line remained in service the whole time. It was done with wooden ties encased in concrete which apparently didn't last very long with the weight of the 1980s streetcars but, there must be a better option that keeps the lines running than the current option that takes the streetcar out of service for months.

In my experience, the majority of customers end up loving bus replacement service and campaign to have to it made permanent . That is a terrible image for streetcars and the TTC. Point being, customers wouldn't know better if they kept the streetcars in service during reconstruction.

I never understood why we can't do maintenance overnight like we do with the subway, instead of shutdown a streetcar lines for months and years.

As for new streetcar/LRT lines the TTC has said going forward all new lines will have a dedicated lane and the Waterfront LRT would also have that as demonstrated by the bridges now.

there is 2 streetcar route that run on Queens Quay to union, one that goes to spadina station and the other than going to Exhibition station. The later i believe is still running
