The Skyhouse deck is Precast, so it is built in sections not from the ground up. They will build one section (or bay) from the ground up and then move to the next one. They typically split it down the middle long ways then have 4 or more sections on each side. That explains the L shape.

Aerotropolis poised for takeoff

Porsche Cars North America Inc. paid $34.3 million for the land on which it plans to build its U.S. headquarters at Jacoby Development Inc.’s Aerotropolis Atlanta.

The deal was completed June 21, according to Fulton County records.

Porsche acquired 56.2 acres, including 26 acres for its $100 million headquarters project, a showcase for the brand.

It will help anchor Aerotropolis, the nearly 130-acre mixed-used redevelopment of the former Ford Motor Co. assembly plant in Hapeville — a project Jacoby began in 2008

Power Lines On Crescent

Pardon me for being the resident ALL POWER AND UTILITY LINES ARE STULTIFYING, UGLY, AMBIANCE DESTROYING, CITY SUFFICATING FILTH - or don't pardon me since I must admit to being proudly anti POWER AND UTILITY LINES WHICH ARE STULTIFYING, UGLY, AMBIANCE DESTRYING, CITY SUFFICATING FILTH but didn't the Midtown Alliance recently complete the Crescent Street streetscape project which was supposed to bury said POWER AND UTILITY LINES? The picture of the new Lure shows the offending bits standing as proud as ever.

Question: as you know, we in Orlando are getting a carbon-copy of Skyhouse. We were surprised to learn that ours would be 347' tall at only 23 stories. Does yours appear to be that tall ?

[QUOTE=Kenn;5755455]Pardon me for being the resident ALL POWER AND UTILITY LINES ARE STULTIFYING, UGLY, AMBIANCE DESTROYING, CITY SUFFICATING FILTH -

power lines remain the great blemish on Atlanta city streets; particularly unfortunate is the behemoth running down 14th street

of course they can be buried and should be; cost is always put forward as a reason, but that cost has to be balanced by the down time and lost power after storms - look at the MD and VA now - unfortunately most of those costs are not carried by the power companies (except in lost power revenue and repair)

in addition power companies and other utilities also butcher our trees in maintaining overhead lines

so the bottom line - aesthetics - suffers and especially around high rises - just try and take a picture of many highrises without having wires

Hey, power lines aren't the best. But the situation could be WAY worse.

Ever been to Vietnam? This is what it looks like everywhere.

If you look at pictures of Manhattan around the turn of the last century it looked like Vietnam as well, however we are supposedly a modern, economically advanced country. My comparison is with the UK, Germany, etc.

It most certainly does not appear that tall. Maybe closer to 265' when they put the top on. Anything above 200' can make a serious impact on Orlando's skyline, though. Wouldn't that make it 3rd or 4th tallest res high rise in Orlando and one of the taller buildings in skyline?

I have seen the rendering for Austin's and of course the nearly finished package for the original here in Atlanta and they are exactly the same. Furthermore, Novare is on the cusp of starting a nearly identical tower here in Atlanta called 100 6th St and would be 1 floor higher and barely different at all from current design:

Austin's Skyhouse:

Rendering of pool of Atlanta's Skyhouse:

I wouldn't look for too much variance from the design.

In fact, I think I saw 357' for Orlando. And that can't be above sea level since Orlando's so close to the coast anyway. I could have been a typo. But yes, 357' would make it, I believe, fourth-tallest, the tallest being 441'.

You said it was going to be 23 stories? Then it won't be above 265'. Sorry to break it to you. Residential floor heights are ~10 ft (including floor plates). If it were 23 story office it might be between 315'-350'. 357' for a 23 story residential building is patently absurd. If I were you I'd be happy that you were getting a 23 story building and not focus so much on the actual height, that's stupid.

I’m really enjoying the shots of Skyhouse ATL. We are very excited to get the Austin version going. I hear that they should be breaking ground this summer.

I'm really loving how Midtown and the rest of intown is starting to intensify the densification. It looks like the city is on the cusp of going to the next level. This should a very exciting time for Atlanta. Hopefully things, such as the proper placement of parking decks, etc will be worked out so that these projects can be done right to enhance the city.

^^^And don't forget if TSPLOST passes, which it looks like it won't now, Midtown will have several streetcars connected to an expanded MARTA system and the Beltline's light rail loop, so parking will be less and less necessary and the requirements may eventually be more strict with maximums and lenient with minimums.

Why does it look like it won't pass? I haven't been paying attention, so I may have missed something...I know TSPLOST has some naysayers, but I was thinking (hoping) that they didn't represent the majority.

Let's be respectful. This forum is about skyscrapers. There are people that are fascinated with the height of buildings, as well as other aspects of buildings. Saying that's stupid is harsh and unnecessary.
