i know ive said this before but..

I want to see something happen in Calgary as bad as the next guy trust me. But I think the logical answer is a 50-80M reno of McMahon. If they could throw a canopy over the place like IGF or something similar and updated the exterior it would look like a new stadium from the outside and aerial a subtle update of the concourses and new seats would also be a must.

The biggest and most important piece would be a substantial building in the endzone that currently houses the scoreboard. 3 floors top level being restaurant/vip clubs that you see at IGF New mosiac and BMO, Under that would be more concourse space that completes a horse shoe from one stand to the another. You could do a rum hut type spot like IGF, solve the washroom problems and add premium loge seating/ party deck ect, which the stamps currently lack . Your bottom floor would consist of player facilities (locker rooms, coaching rooms, weight room, medical ect and also event level space.

The stadium Itself is not bad at all. Just lacks modern facilities, Imagine an IGF style canopy over this

I agree, the sight lines at McMahon are awesome, the stadium just needs modern facilities and upgrades. It sucks to have to wait in such massive lines for the washrooms and beers.

It is the little things...

ACC looks much better with the theatre style lighting.

It makes it look like the big city arena that it is, and it would do a good job of hiding the sometimes empty platinum seats that have fans being in and out of the seats a lot.

Most important it hides the awkward dual clashing branding of the Raptors and Leafs all over the bowl.

does anyone know if the mlse have indeed replaced the seats at the ACC? I hope not, I would be mighty disappointed if they stuck with the puke yellow, grey and gross red theme. That building needs black seats. it's just one of those places that have 2 teams with clashing colours so instead of some random rainbow of nasty do a solid colour that has nothing to do with either but ties the city together...black seats grey maple leaf embroidered into it.

^ The seats at ACC are coloured as an homage to MLG.

No real disagreement here...upgraded seating, new suites, concessions and bathrooms...the location is good , but the CTrain station could be upgraded...I'd put a party deck in the north end zone (but I can see the attraction of filling in the horseshoe) and elevated walkway connecting through the south...roof or canopy...but it would run more than $50-80m IMO for something like this I suspect, and no will by the city or university to spend any money. Too bad, with a drastically reworked McMahon seating 35-40,000, the NW Fieldhouse and a renovated Father David Bauer Arena this could be a first class sports centre.

Yeah I would put it about on par with the BMO reno's if a Canopy was involved price wise. However the building itself would be about 45M or even less, Seats would run you another 4-5M concourse refresh would be pretty cheap 2M? add an additional 8M for exterior upgrades. I think A canopy would really put Calgary on par with Toronto,Hamilton and Ottawa and slightly under Winnipeg. It would instantly become one of my favourite in the league

The new stadium in Regina will just be green seats, so they won't keep the traditional look of Mosaic... But that one too is one that most people find hideous, though it's design is to resemble the patchwork of fields in the province. I'll miss it in a way.

Yes, they're using some of the planks, and I don't mind that... The the general seating won't be the patchwork pattern anymore though; that will be all green.

I believe there is also some discussion about people being able to purchase their part of the seats before the stadium is demolished... A bit of a way to take a keepsake of the old. I'd definitely grab mine if I can.
