That's a lot of building for only 800 parking spaces.

The stair-step design is reminiscent of the new Vista Tower in Chicago.

Portman has been a scourge on the Atlanta streetscape and a boon to the skyline, actually.

Portman sees things from afar. Not up close.

I think they're just evolving to stay relevant.

It's interesting to me that they have not done anything in Atlanta for I don't know how long until Coda. And now they're suddenly super active in their home city.

North Avenue TOD

ABC article on the proposal.

Quote:
Portman Holdings has submitted a proposal to develop a 480,000-square-foot office tower and 275-room hotel over the North Avenue MARTA station.

The plan was presented to an Atlanta city council committee earlier this week.

MARTA spokesperson Stephany Fisher said the transit agency board will vote June 11 to award the project to a developer and start negotiating.

Fisher did not confirm if Portman has the only proposal or whether it will be competing against other developers.

"We’re still in the procurement process," she wrote in an email to Atlanta Business Chronicle. "The information in the presentation is what we can share at this point."

The nearly 1.6-acre site where the new tower and hotel could rise is situated on the northeast corner of North Avenue and West Peachtree Street.

Last August, MARTA released its request for proposals to develop the North Avenue station. Commercial real estate services firm Jones Lang LaSalle has led the project on behalf of MARTA. Besides the tower and hotel, the development would feature a $13.1 million revitalization of the North Avenue station from its bleak and brutalist concrete facade into steel and glass.

Portman declined comment.

This! To call Portman a scourge on the skyline is ridiculous.

What if we learn in a couple of years Cousins also made a proposal that was way better like what happened with Coda

Can't live on what's and ifs - that proposal is great, let's get it - plenty of places for Cousins to build left in the city

903 Peachtree Refinement

Looks like there are more inset balconies from the last rendering - looking a little less like and office tower now. It also appears that there is more window detail with the unusual glass divisions than before as well. I like the added details and apparent refinement.

I like how they just erased Bulldogs from existence... or maybe pretend that it doesn't exist

The point of the rendering is to show how their building will look, probably removed so you can better see details on that side of the building since the two are so close to each other.

Also looks like this building will have windows normally seen up-north. The little squares are where you could open them for fresh air. Almost every building I saw in Seattle had them. So even though those units won't have balconies they can still get fresh air

Or the Cheetah.

Re 903 Peachtree

As as I said before, I think it's still a nice building just not as interesting as the original concept suggested. The latest rendering confirms that and I think most of us will be pleased with the final product.
