Exactly, yes I know it's a rule but it makes no sense. And to the argument of vehicles taking up space in lanes... isn't that what the lane is for? Garbages still has to go out the back which means garbage trucks need to go in them... isn't that a bigger "hazard?"

The Radisson parkade is large and exits onto the back lane with no issues.

That right there is part of the issue. These large trucks and other commercial vehicles use the lanes and will sometimes block them while making deliveries. I use the lanes a lot and see this way too often.

I would imagine safety and security is the bigger factor though, as the criminal element would have a bit of an easier time sneaking in when cars come and go and don’t wait for the door to close in an alley.

I too hate what these access points do to break up the front walks, but can see it from both sides.

I'm definitely not against this building. As a fan of design, I lament that it isn't better looking. As a fan of cities, I lament a 1,000 stall parkade, but if they can pull it off, I'm behind them.

I’m having a very hard time imagining how this project will be financed.
Does anyone know who the developer is and where the 30% of equity is coming from?

Has anyone priced out a meter of concrete vs the rental rates in Winnipeg?

While I’m not that opposed to this ugly 50 story building with a stupid parade that is not required, one has to ask how Urban Design Review will assess the proposal.

If it’s not being proposed by a large Canadian developer with a huge track record it will not be financed...

While the site is “sold” have the proponents actually written a cheque for $3,800,000 to CV or are they still holding a mortgage?

What I see ugly in that Skyline besides The ocean of parking lots is that UGLY red building. I don't think I have ever seen such an out of place eyesore.

Now that's an amazing idea. Will look beautiful. If you said that here you'd get alot of flamage as greenspace to many here is a bad word. LoL

It's not green space that's bad, it's the idea that green space is automatically the best use of any piece of land. A park can be a wonderful community amenity, but it can also be a dangerous empty dead zone. It depends on if there are actually people around to use it. In the case of downtown Winnipeg, there's already lots of green space. What we need is more people...which means more buildings.

It's not as simple as "green space looks beautiful, therefore it is good".

I am testing out a live cam. If the channel gets 1000 subscribers on YouTube or a sponsor I will upgrade the camera. As well on the channel I have posted higher quality sunset recordings and the snow storm this week. Sometimes the cam goes down and each time I put it back up YouTube creates a new link. You can find it by searching Teslaearl on Youtube and by subscribing the newest link will show up in your feed.

This is the view from 390 On the River. I have noticed some people on here still complaining about the build quality and the poor reputation of the original developer. I have lived here for over a year and I really have few complaints. I think the location is the best for downtown close to the Forks, MTS and Osborne Village on a quiet street and the River Walk. I like the views, the sunsets on the west side are epic. The views should remain unobstructed as the only vacant lot near by is at Assiniboine and Kennedy which would only block the view of Evergreen Towers.
