Interesting looking pile. Is the atrium to be enclosed or open air (I'm wondering why the covered staircases)?

It actually looks really good considering the setting. You actually see the infamous clock tower building - mega star of the ugly thread - in the background of the first rendering.

The renderings are prettying up the fact that this internal courtyard will rarely see sun and won't likely be as inviting as it is portrayed. The stairs crisscrossing about is odd too.

The reality is it is a way to market the conglomerate of buildings that is likely designed like this to allow for staged construction and to market an "amenity" for what would be traditionally internal office space.

Looks cool, but I'm not sure how practical it will be to heat things with that massive open air courtyard/stairwell thing going on. If they closed it and made it a giant atrium that would probably work better, but exposing it to the elements seems iffy.

I believe it's one of these "love it or hate it" projects.

I love both the Kingston Road and Church Street proposals but that Laval thing is just a mess.

Why build that in Laval? Looks more like a downtown project.

Thanks for the perspective view urbmtl. The development of those 3 huge lots will definitely be impressive.

By Laval's standards, it's a great project.

Individually, I'm not sure about any of those Laval projects, but it is very nice to see so much proposed in a Canadian suburb, especially a commercial project as massive as Espace Montmorency. The potential for the area around that Metro Station is massive.

Espace Montmorency will be soooo hated and loved at the same time.
I personally think it looks amazing.

I'll post again this little sketch I made a few months ago, where we can see the three major projects side by side.
It's not perfect (especially for all those cubes), but it gives an idea of what the whole thing could look like (from Du Souvenir overpass) :

That is very impressive! The Eye of Sauron is still wayyy too prominent though.

The blocks are enormous. Urbania has 8 structures on its block.

There's a ton happening in Canada's suburbs.

Fixed that for yah and yes I know there's a ton, but it's pretty much 100% confined to two metropolitan areas. Good to see it spreading out.
