LOL. If i had any Photoshop skills I'd put some balloons on that house and show it floating over UNB or something.

To bad...it was kinda cute...in a creepy kinda way haha.

Fredericton Convention Centre generates millions in economic impact

According to a report released Thursday, the Fredericton Convention Centre had an economic impact of $10.6-million last year. The numbers include both revenue collected directly by the centre and money spent at businesses throughout the city. The McKellar Cunningham report says for every dollar spent at the centre, an additional $3.67-million was spent off-site during events. The largest amount was spent on hotel accommodations, but also in the retail sector, transportation, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Last year the convention centre hosted 228 events.

I assume that $3.67-million should just be $3.67 though.

From the SJ thread:

Empire Theaters sold to Ciniplex

Makes sense in many ways; it ties us in with a national chain at least. Hopefully it'll bode well for a new set of screens in Freddy too.

And if we hope really hard, maybe they'll consider an Imax in NB too. (They missed a huge opportunity in Moncton IMO)

More information on the Deadline Hollywood article (Wow! We made the news in Hollywood. )

Quote:
The company promised to upgrade the theaters — which is what acquirers usually say in announcements like this — saying it “may” add its UltraAVX large-screen auditoriums, padded recliner seating, and gaming rooms to “certain locations.”

I agree, it is ridiculous what they charge to see a movie given how crappy the theatres are here. Not to mention all the commercials they have now at the start of a movie. Its better to watch them at home in my opinion. Would definately be better if they improve the theatres though.

The thing is though, the place is still packed several days a week. It doesn't seem like the dated amenities are affecting sales.

Probably more because it's the only place in town combined with a lot of "Must See" Summer blockbusters. (And a dose of not knowing any better).

They've got their own door. Signs are up. A sign on the door said they're opening July 2.

That was quick. You'd think they would have at least gone for a double set of doors at least.

It does make me wonder if the mall has someone nibbling around for the rest of the space. Maybe a 3rd Giant Tiger?

GT has already gone on record that they are not looking for a 3rd location in Freddy. They are committed to the current locations

Yeah that door seems small to be lugging furniture out of. Maybe they deliver.
