Yeah, Cathedral Place tapers to the top.
Probably slower elevators in the 1990s and maybe this one has bigger cabs?

Very neat seeing the steel go up in Vancouver. Great building method, shame we don't employ it more often.

It makes so much more sense from the environmental standpoint as well.

Just noticed that three of the elevators are labeled as "double decker elevator machine" in Summit.

Cathedral has seven passenger elevators.

Quote:
A total of 7 elevators service the Office Tower.
• Elevators 1 to 4 serve Ground Floor through 13th floor
• Elevators 5 to 7 serve 14th Floor through 23rd floor
• Elevator 8 serves Service Level through 23rd Floor
• Elevators 9 and 10 serve Ground Floor through Parking Level P4
I assume they needed some additional "firefighter" elevators (maybe excluding the double level ones) so that's why they needed to add this additional firefighter access elevator.

Interesting about the double decker elevators in a short tower.
The second floor would need to have a secondary main lobby if First Canadian Place is used an a model.

Hmm I wonder if the service elevator is used for passengers during the day. That's what's done for TD tower, as its the only direct elevator from parkade to office floors.
Not sure where "service level" would be (parkade level or roof?)

Just realized that the beam marked in orange below is to secure the 4 storey tall glass wall that will enclose the lobby.
It will drop to the awning that has been installed below.

Yeah I looked for a second lobby and didn't see one.

The service level in Cathedral is the loading dock of the alley.

Thanks.
Odd looking steel beams on the top floor (in substitution of the X-bracing found on other cube top floors).
All the floors of that cube have large gaps (internal stair and atrium?) in the floors.
That's not Deloitte's space.

Quote:
Deloitte will occupy about 117,000-sq-ft of space within the top 10 floors of the 24-storey, 301-ft-tall, 375,000-sq-ft building.

^ I noted those gaps, too. I figure they are putting in the structural option for internal stairs to be added, either immediately or in the future. This would undoubtedly enhance the attractiveness of the building to prospective future tenants, particularly law firms, that will occupy multiple contiguous floors and want wholly internal vertical circulation.

Thanks for the photo update, McMinsen.

Wasn't Spaces in some of the lower floors of the building?

So many amazing buildings going up in Vancouver right now. This is one of them. I was down last weekend and just walked around picking them out, was loving it, haha. Heading back down next weekend for Canucks and rugby 7's, and can't wait.
