Those new trees are one prolonged dry spell away from dying. Or if it's a dog piss magnet, it won't survive a few seasons.

That's one sad looking tree for a long time to come. I have said it before, but this would have been an excellent site for an impressive water feature.

It would be also a really good spot for a piece of art that would have a better chance of survival as art doesn't require water!

Sadly, we all know that if it would be anything "art", it would be another poodle on a stick. Hence I prefer a tree.

Having lived in The Max for a year, I cannot wait to see this area getting busier and re-energizing. Maybe it already has with Parq and One Pacific? I am never in the area anymore after having moved to Burnaby ..

Really excited about what's in store for the retail area. Peeked in the other night and was quite pleased to see how bright the shopping area is when illuminated with LED lights. Hopefully, a bunch of retailers, cafes, etc. will open up there at the same time, together with those vacant ones at the One pacific as well as Parq. This neighbourhood now has a bit of retail synergy that makes other cities so vibrant.

Two of Concords best in Vancouver, right across the street from each other.

Turned out great.

With the completion of the Arc, is this the first time in 25(??) Years that there is nothing under construction on the Expo lands?

The retail units look like those high-end outlet mall ones found in other countries. These can easily house really nice upmarket shops or restaurants/cafes.

Not really. One Pacific just across Cambie Bridge was completed not too long ago, as well as the Parq Casino + Marriott hotels, and that rental building next to BC Place Stadium. However, technically, these are not on Expo lands as only the area south of Pacific Boulevard was built-up for Expo 86.

There's now a surreal 200-ft high, glass-bottom pool in downtown Vancouver

It turned out great and looks great from below. I am normally not afraid of glass floors, but swimming in this pool would give me some anxiety as the water alone puts a lot of weight on the glass, not to mention people...

For once, a very well-written and informative story from Daily Hive.

"As a feat of engineering, this pool is the most expensive price per sq. ft. condominium amenity ever built in Canada. Only three companies in the world have the know-how of making the pool bottom"

The interior suite lights and the exterior balcony potlights have all been lit up the past few nights - makes quite a show.

I like the curves on the building, but I wish it had have been two separate buildings instead. It looks too much like a resort hotel.

I saw the light strips on The Arc lit up last night at about 7:00pm.
Was driving south on Nelson across the bridge, so not a head-on view.
The strips face south towards the bridge on the building below the amenities area.
The light strips are embedded in the fronts of the balcony handrails (not like One Pacific on the slab edge which is screened by the balcony glass).
The colour seemed to be a light blue - so maybe color-changing!
The strips are quite wide and segmented. They were bright (maybe testing).
Should look good when up and running and the handrail placement probably making maintenace easy to do.

Thanks for the report. So, the lighting feature does not extend to the top of the building, as far as you saw?
