This is for one program within a larger engineering college that it can still draw from. That's a lot of space for one department. And it's on the east campus, which means it will be all office, research and lab space. Doesn't have to do any of the campus-ey stuff.

This is kind of an interesting article on some of the shifting apartment construction dynamics at play along the Front Range. I always assumed the Springs was cheaper (which it is), but that may not last for much longer. Also, I find it surprising they only have 2,500 units under construction. Is it because they tend to build more for-sale homes in the "burbs" of the Springs?

Agree, article is interesting. Can't find any notable construction of condos; I suspect it's just the stage of their cycle. They had to prove that tenants would pay the higher rents to justify new construction.

^ That's great to hear.

I've been fortunate to enjoy In-N-Out Burger's since I moved to Phoenix as there was one nearby to where my son lived and went to high school in the Desert Ridge area.

I graduated from that high school in 2011. Small world! I'm not the biggest fan of in and out but I do enjoy hearing they are expanding!

A look at Lost Canyon Ranch, a $20 million estate for sale near Castle Rock
It's a 682-acre property.

Douglas County = $40K to $50K in new fees per single family home. The majority of that is water. Add land acquisition, design, permitting, construction, etc. It's probably $60K to $65K prior to construction. Not even talking about infrastructure.

Not sure if something affordable would be doable in this little slice of hell.

Well hell... I guess with all those costs then we're looking at 5-acre ranchettes. Or maybe some O&G guy will acquire it and start sniffing around for minerals, maybe even uranium?

Not at $22/lb. ISR guys may claim they can turn an operational profit at that level, but only the Kazakh's come even close. Fun little industry, you should consider investing.

Maybe they should start by offering up ideas on how to fund it. I don't think the fed grant is going to pay for the entire expansion alone, from how I am reading it.

Oh the ironies with this one.

Part of me agrees; living in Phoenix which has a First Class freeway system with zero tolling why would anybody support tolls? The difference is that Phoenix has been funding freeways since 1986 with a voter-approved Maricopa Co. half-cent sales tax (Maricopa Co encompasses metro Phoenix). A 20-year program that was renewed in 2004 the money is combined with ADOT and federal funds.

Meanwhile the Republicans in Colorado and C-Springs/El Paso Co. are the epicenter of Republican-conservative no tax values. You get what you pay for and they haven't been wiling to pay for Jack Squat; Squat is what they've gotten but ofc it's somebody else's job to pay for their toys.
