I like the general layout of the design! Here's hoping that's brick-like facade and not what post millennium has. If developed, would be nice infill between Hanover buckhead and the Camden paces phase II project. Have to wonder how long that college/young professional entertainment district will survive or what locations it will transition to.

Emory Proton Center is Active Again

It looks like the Emory Proton Center will be off hold as of June 26, 2017. This is per the Midtown Alliance and the http://www.georgiaproton.com/ websites. Juniper Street will be closed from Ponce de Leon Av to North Av from June 26th through October.

That explains something: I've been seeing trucks coming and going in the mornings the last week or two

Speaking of the corner of North and Juniper/Courtland:

https://atlanta.curbed.com/2017/6/8/...avenue-planned

In the shadow of Bank of America Plaza, developers are planning a mixed-use complex with a medical component that would include a new North Avenue sky-rise.

The news came to light during a meeting this week of the Fourth Ward West neighborhood association, where Atlanta-based developer Richmond Honan unveiled plans to drastically transform the southeast corner of North Avenue and Courtland Street, as District2Atlanta relays.

Specializing in health facilities and medical office buildings, the same developer built the Emory Hospital tower a few blocks away in Midtown.

Developers want to build an assisted living facility for seniors at the corner. It would be part of a larger venture that includes two hotels (both serving clients of the kitty-corner Georgia Proton Treatment Center), retail at street level, and a “memory center” for Alzheimer’s patients.

Fourth Ward West members voted unanimously in favor of supporting the developer’s request for a Special Use Permit at the site.

That is absolute nonsense! That is m/t twice the time it took to rebuild a major bridge on I 85. How can a private developer get away with this. Are they installing the equipment by tortoise?

Broadstone appears to be about finished and I think its a great looking building. My one gripe is would have killed them to take the bricked sections all the way to the top floor?

Some of the architects on this forum could explain better than me, but the reason they don't take the brick up more than 2-3 levels is that after a certain height you have to include lintels that need to be fastened into the substrate and it becomes very expensive. Something like that.

"Life Hope Tower" seems a bit... morbid? Exciting project nonetheless.

Is that large parking garage apart of this project? Being almost adjacent to the MARTA N. Ave station that's a bit of a shame.

Old folks are still trying to hang in there, too.

I wonder if they think the parking deck is necessary for caregivers and visitors? It would be nice if they could stick it underground or at least activate the street level.
