Thank you for the share! It would be interesting to see how they mount that giant glass bowl on there.

Is that a playground slide set on the roof?

From a distance, it sure looks like that.

As a parent, my thought of that playground was:

OMG, that can't be safe.

Even as a non-parent, I think the same thing.

Perhaps they will move it later?

I've never notice any playgrounds on a roof top of a building like that. Is this common? It seems very out of place.

Or. Perhaps it's not finished yet. My guess is there will be an 8 foot glass wall

Drove past yesterday and there's definitely a railing now - not sure of the glass height.

Rooftop playgrounds aren't uncommon. We are doing one in Slave Lake, AB, with a 6' Omega fence with no issues.

Looks pretty nice, but seems a little out of place. I hope those penthouse units have kids or likes kids. Looks like they have a view directly at the playground.

The view looks blocked by the plants.

Also Patina (or actually YMCA below it) has a playground on the podium roof.

That looks like a very nice playground, too bad only a handful of kids will ever play on it.

I wonder what's the most interesting thing to find on a roof of an apartment in Vancouver?

I have always thought that the roof top swimming pool at The Melville is one of the coolest features, considering that it (and the gym up there) are building amenities. Also Shangri-La has a small pool on the roof, but that is a private one for the penthouse unit. Still, pretty cool for those heights.

Crazy, I wonder if the water sloshes around a bit in high winds.

I mean moreso the wind hitting the building and the energy getting transferred to the pool at the top of the building. The same as in the bathroom near the top of a tall building and the water moves in the toilet during a wind storm, it picks up the motion created by the building sway. Shangri La is rather narrow and thin for it's height, i would think it would be noticeable.
