I was thinking a rooftop garden. at least put gargoyles on the edges to make the building look another 400 years older than it already is.

The Woodwards shot is also nice. That is an interesting part of the city. Obviously some of it is not in a great state but it has decent streetwalls, ground-level detailing, and a balanced scale that is missing from a lot of newer developments in Vancouver. I think "point towers" are overrated.
Three of these bear striking similarities to our own 2010 Mascots.
It's truly disappointing that our 2010 Logo is based on someone else's sculpture from the Yukon Pavilion at Expo 86. Now it seems our mascots and the idea of multiple mascots has been ripped off from the Chinese Olympics.
So much for actual creativity.
Anyway at what point do we begin to see representation of the heritage of Vancouver and British Columbia.
At this point we might as well assume that our Olympic theme song will be a rip off of some obscure Karaoke number discovered in a bar somewhere in Japan.

salt lake city had three mascots before beijing as did sydney
I figured I would continue with the snow theme with these recently taken flickr pics...
By the way, anybody know what that crane is there for?
Thought this was cool cause you can clearly see a uniquely shaped snow flake. Perhaps I'm just not nearly observant enough or having only ever experienced winters in Vancouver I haven't had enough snow flakes in my life but I've never seen an actual "snowflake-shaped" snowflake with my naked eye before. I've only ever noticed snow as being what the majority of this pile looks like, shapeless white stuff. I thought to see its unique shape you had to look under a microscope. I can't believe I've been so blind all these years. Now I just feel like an idiot.
No Vancouver winter photo thread would be complete without...
Not the snow from today but pretty cool nonetheless
the thing with snowflakes is that they are very fragile. out here on the west coast, the air is so moist that when snow forms, it clumps together in a mixture of snow-flakes and snow-pellets. with all the mixing associated with the formation of these clumps, the fragile crystalline structure of the snowflakes are often broken, hence why we rarely see perfect snowflakes.

Great pictures! It always feels so alien when snow hits the ground in Vancouver. It's such a rarity and it usually is swept away by rain within a few days.
