And I also wouldn't call One St. T bulky. It stand to be taller, but its current proportions still look good.

I never liked Grand Harbour.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...2C_Toronto.jpg

It looks like another bland building with a stupid arch.
http://www.thompsonsells.com/wp-cont...t-Building.jpg

It’s also huge, not helping matters much.
http://condominium.ca/images/22887/C...ondominium.jpg

It towers over its surroundings.

I mean I don’t really even like postmodernism to begin with, but Grand Harbour just takes it to a whole new level. Most likely one of the fugliest buildings in Toronto.

Impossible to navigate, check, employees dumber than a bag of bricks, check, horrendous exterior design that disregards it’s surroundings, check, ginormous parking lot, check. All the ingredients of a bad store.

Absolutely,
Canadian Tire is horrible. Half the time they are moving aisles and you CAN'T FUCKING FIND ANYTHING. The staff are dumb as a bag of hammers.

Worse, however, is RONA. Never will you find a more confusing, wretched hive of scum and villainy, as a RONA store. It must be bad on purpose. Way worse than Canadian Tire (which is really saying something)

Canadian Tire employees:

How has this never been posted here before? It looks like a ripoff of that Caribbean dolphin hotel. I presume it’s in the suburbs?

All of our big Ronas have been converted to Lowes it seems. The only ones left are the small stores. To me all of the do-it-yourself mega stores have the same level of shitty service and terrible layouts.

Yup Etobicoke, right on the waterfront (good view from the waterfront huh?). You can see it from the GO Train (or highway coming in from the direction of Hamilton) when first entering Toronto.

Ours recently closed as well, including a huge new one they built out in the East End. General complaint I heard is that they were too expensive compared to Home Depot, Home Hardware, Kent, etc. They didn't convert to Lowe's, just closed. I believe they had four big stores in St. John's.

Unhappy

Speaking of ugly suburban condos I present to you Treviso, a twin condo complex near Yorkdale Mall.
https://lanterradevelopments.com/wp-...viso/bdg-8.jpg

It feels like it’s trying to be quasi-historical yet modern at the same time, the result? A bungled mess of a building that fails on both ends.
https://condos.ca/public/condo_build...c7d48_8e68.jpg

It doesn’t help matters much that the lowrise portion of the structure pretty much stretches up to the actual Italian city of Treviso.
https://condoessentials.com/pics/treviso-2-condo-01.jpg

Also I love how the proposal shots pretty much ignore how it’s right on the highway and a ridiculously busy street, nope nothing but nature here.

I actually quite like Treviso - I believe it won an award for it's Landscape Architecture.

Most Rona’s up in Toronto have been converted to Home Depots but some remain.

I did not know that. My beef with Treviso is how the modern elements and the historical elements don’t quite come together. It’s also very out of scale,it takes up what is pretty much a whole block.

Which parts are you describing as "historical elements"?

I could be wrong here, but I recall reading that the brickwork on Treviso is a nod to historical architecture. But maybe I’m wrong idk.

Vaughan has a lot of buildings I would say qualify for this thread, but the Balleria Condos are a perfect mix of depressing and tacky (I included pics of the inside because it’s kike a McMansion on steroids).

Those are even worse than Elizabeth Towers here in St. John's. The exterior is not too bad - it's ugly, but it works:

But the interior was clearly designed by Trump (and cleaned by someone who "don't do" carpets):

Dear god, you would never guess from the exterior that the interior looks like that. Wereas you can tell by the name that the one in Vaughan is gonna have a shitty interior.

A lot of things from that era are like that here, even some bungalows, etc. You know how everyone after WWII was obsessed with the suburban lifestyle? Here that had an added layer - we just joined Canada, so they built a Little Canada neighbourhood, a showcase of how mainlanders lived - all the streets have names for Canadian politicians, provinces, and cities. It's not far from Elizabeth Towers.

Anyhow, the quirk here is that almost all of our suburbia until I believe the mid-1970s was built by a crown corporation and a significant number of the properties were marketed toward the upper class. Blue blood families were told it was embarrassing to live in a four-floor rowhouse with the kitchen in the basement and the servants' quarters in the attic - they should be living the North American dream in a bungalow or spacious apartment with all the modern amenities.

So, overall, identical to everywhere else at the time with that one exception. You can find generic-looking bungalows here with marble stairs inside, chandeliers, etc. It comes across as new money, but it was built to trick old money. And it's all hideous. The only ones I like are the handful of bungalows with Labradorite floors. It's such a beautiful, local stone - shines like the northern lights in different angle. This particular piece is kind of shitty, but it's the only video I could find that wasn't 12 minutes long and by "healing properties of crystals!" crazies:
