I really like that glass atrium, it looks rather aero-chic. The interior design seems intimate and comforting.

I flew out of the airport on my way to Chicago last week and was really impressed by the new look. Even my sister-in-law, who flies through many airports because of her job, kept talking about how impressed she was by the new look.

The airport look nice you guys. I think Mobile has the worst looking airport out of the big four !!

a full demo has to be approved by either the planning commission or the architectural review board, and I don't see anything on the agenda's for the last few months.

Are you sure it wasn't a bid for 'interior' demo? I drove by today and noticed alot of windows open, maybe they're gutting it to refurb?

Do you know what day?

They have done a excellent job with the renovations. I pass by it every day and it appears they are just finishing an additional phase.

They have added:

Covered walk ways from all parts of the parking lot to the airport
A Big New Airport sign
Nice Land Scaping
A rental car return building (I think that's what that little building is)
Drop off or Pickup waiting spots away from the building

It's very nice. Way to go first class Montgomery.

Now make the Air National Guard unit look a little better.

It was one day last week. I believe the Planning Commission has no say about a demolition and, unfortunately, although the building is on the National Register of Historic Places it is not in a local historic district therefor the ARB has no authority either. I went to the Advertiser website to see if I could find the ad, but no luck.

There was a Bid request for work at Alabama State that involved demolition, but nothing for Troy in the last month.

The Tampa Bay Rays extended their player development contract with the Montgomery Biscuits through the 2014 season, ensuring the Biscuits would be the Double-A franchise of the Rays for another four years.

The Biscuits delayed announcement of the new contract until Thursday's home finale at Riverwalk Stadium, dubbed "Fan Appreciation Night."

ASU moves on stadium plans

With a campus undergoing a major transformation, Alabama State University officials say now is the time to move forward with long held plans for a stadium.

ASU President William Harris said Friday during the initial meeting of the committee that will oversee the project that the campus is changing significantly and it wouldn't be complete unless the stadium, which had been talked about for several years, also was completed.

ASU already has a 32,000-square-foot, built-from-scratch football complex under construction that will be housed in what is now Hornet Stadium. The new field will support practice for the football team. The team currently plays its home games at Cramton Bowl.

Hey, the front of the Kress building on Dexter has new boarding across it. Anyone know what plans the city has for it?

The city is putting up signs that say things like "What is YOUR Dream?" on the properties it bought on lower Dexter. This is part of the campaign to brand Montgomery as "Capital of Dreams." The signs should be in place before the half-marathon.

I know what the Kress store should be.

It should be the Alabama General Store. Modeled after the Mast General Stores (if you've ever been in one), but showcasing Alabama made items. Everything from Alaga to a Hyundai available for sale, right there.
