This project has the Sandman/Sutton syndrome happening. They have like two guys building the foundation for a 16 storey building. I see them working on it every day, but most times it seems like one worker.

Friends in other cities tell me they see similar things happening where they live. I assume (except for the big players like T.O. and Vancouver) there's a country-wide crunch when it comes to available construction workers?

It's a small thing, but Roslyn Square is getting all new windows and it sure makes a difference to that lovely building.

If only we can do something about the blighted commercial landscape around it

Yup this is about as bleak and soulless as it can get for a residential building. And I actually think the south side not pictured here is even worse from what I remember (mostly blank wall)

It’s too bad Carrington didn’t get ahold of this site, I’d much rather see their black and white cookie cutter buildings here. Even the Baydo towers from Sask would be a huge improvement

If they built that condo that's going in at the corner of Old Tuxedo, would be perfect for this rapid transit station. smh

This building makes me cry. It belongs in an industrial park. I don't buy into this whole "it's better than nothing" narrative. You know what's better than nothing? Nothing. Leave that spot vacant until someone has the vision to build something remotely attractive. This design is objectively a complete and utter POS.

You mean something like this concept from years ago?

Honestly my dislike of that building is tempered by my abject hatred of the Dollarama/Burger King block across the way from it. Evidence that it can, in fact, be worse lol.

I heard rumours the city has or had designs on expropriating part of that block in order to rejoin the northbound and southbound lanes on Donald. Anyone know if there's truth to that?

Was this a legitimate proposal, or are you being facetious?

I don't know if they had designs, but I believe someone was marketing it to developers?

I'm going to take a slightly brighter view of this. A: We are actually getting a good bit of density and residential by a rapid transit station. B: Adding that density can act as a catalyst for more development on the corner.
