Developer J. Paul Beitler is reworking plans for a 45-story condo building he'd like to erect at the north end of Lake Shore Drive. He said the location is fabulous and demand is pent-up in a high-rise corridor that hasn't seen major new construction in years. But the deal still is proving tough to execute.

Great catch Solar. I'll be looking out for a start on this one - it's about time! Now if we can also get 200 W. Lake to move forward some time soon...it's time to build apartments....

It will be interesting to see 155 (faster-track project) catch up to and slightly surpass 353 (slower-track project) in construction progress over the next several months

Well, 155 Wacker didn't have any of the old freight tunnel system in the way either.

That's true, however, it's all about when anchor leases begin, ie if Jenner needed occupancy in 353 by, say, 1st quarter 2009, 353 would be progressing much more rapidly (even given any freight tunnel obstruction, more difficult site access issues, etc encountered at 353 and not 155). It's just a slow-track (relatively) project...

^Is 200 W. Lake that parking garage that borders the el? Are there any plans for that site, or are you just hopeful that something happens there?

155 N Wacker has no basement to speak of, 300 N LaSalle has a very deep ( 4 levels below ground ) basement.

To "race" the projects it would only be fair to count from when the self raising form raises itself the first time.

I noticed that the 601 W. Monroe proposal on pg 1 is linked to the cooler looking triangular proposal at emporis, and emporis has it listed as never built. I was wondering if this is still a living project, and if so, which design?

as for 215 west washington, it's a residential building, and the prelim. height info says 49 floors/490'

So it's not standard-standard SCB, but you can see similarities between this and other recent SCB designs like Park View West and The Streeter
