Interesting move in the US by Amazon. They are expanding their own staffed pickup locations, planning to build our grocery stores. They are very focused on addressing the last mile.

So in Canada with what InPost, Penguin Pickup and OMNION Inc is doing it is going to be interesting to see how this all pans out.

except 10 years newer... You can tell that interior is going to look atrocious in 10 years just how Vaughan Mills looks now.

Two outdoor outlet malls opened in the GTHA in the last few years.. one in Milton and one in St Catherines. They are traditional malls in every way except they lack a roof over the halls. Even then parts are covered, just not sealed.

Osmington is currently planning a new enclosed mall in Brampton at Bovaird and Mississauga Road.

Tanger Outlets in Kanata west of Ottawa and Premium Outlets in Mirabel north of Montreal are like this too.

I think you can tell it looks atrocious right now. I find these malls depressing like hell.

Yeah, I've driven past that mall outside Milton. It's in the middle of the neutral zone between Mississauga and Milton.

I am not against malls. But why did Metro Vancouver allow such a bad sprawl development to take place in this time of so called smart urban planning . Build a mall. But why allow it on the urban edge with a total car centric design? Seems backwards to me, and speaks to just how much our plans about being smart with our land and growth are not followed.
That is nowhere near the City of Vancouver, so they have no control over that area unless they amalgamated all of Metro Vancouver.

That looks so much like Cross Iron Mills. I guess they all look similar, even the stores look the same.

Damn that's ugly. That store alone may kill the white trend.

So I see that Retail Insider is using Klazu's photos of Tsawassen Mills in his retail blog

I wonder if he discovered the photos here on SSP???

I saw they are building a Nike "Air Jordan" store at Yonge and Dundas.

I wonder if they will do it up with flashy electronics and LED. Apparently, these are the same contractors that do big projects in Times Square.

The Beer Store has launched its "Beer Xpress" app at its nine K-W locations. You can browse products and order beer online on a computer or mobile device, then pick it up in-store while skipping the checkout line. Orders can be ready in as little as 30 minutes. I wasn't sure I saw the point at first, but I suppose that anything that reduces the amount of time you need to spend in a Beer Store is worth it!

I don't think I've been in a beer store since I sold my car and my truck broke down about a year or two ago. I think there's one closer than the local LCBO/Loblaws too.

Since we do not have government run retail stores anymore the selection is quite varied. I go to Sherbrooke Liquor for my beer.

That sounds a lot like an app called Ritual that serves a similar function with a number of downtown Toronto restaurants. Order your lunch, or breakfast, and then go skip the line and pick it up. Even has GPS capability to tell you when you should leave and go to the restaurant.

Some good news, I guess.

East Enders would lose half their sense of self without the Costco lol (Ours is the inverse of London - East End was traditionally wealthy, and these days, it's mostly middle/upper-middle class suburbia. McMansions backing onto golf courses and the like, nothing truly classy or fancy, but they don't realize that).

The current Costco in town apparently does about $1 million in business every day. It's very popular with Townies and people drive in from across the island to load up there.
