Not sure why I like this one as much as I do ...

But I do. Very nicely done.

Love those Montreal shots!

In many ways I still think Montreal has the best skyline in the country.

It's too bad Olympic park isn't closet to downtown. It would have made an incredible contribution to the skyline.

Cool shot. Does the backside of Toronto City Hall have windows or is it a concrete wall?

It's a solid wall (no openings) of embedded split faced marble strips in concrete.

Concrete wall.

Loooks truly hideous from the back. Especially in the daylight.

It depends on what your tastes are.

I got Toronto twice a month for the past 15 years. I've seen the ugly back end of those towers hundreds of times and never liked the sight of them. This is my opinion.

And, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion. Someone asked about it? I gave the right answer and then my opinion. The details just get blurred the farther you stand from it. It's definitely not some afterthought concrete wall or does it ever look like one.

Are there no offices on that side? I don't understand how the back can be a solid wall.

Yea, I'm fairly certain it's a hallway. I agree the concrete is done in such a way that it's not meant to be seen as a fugly bare unadorned wall, and with that I find that the entire concrete shell has an interesting look, especially now since it's so rare to find a wall like the one in the City Hall. The age on the concrete really shows, adding some texture and a certain look to it.

Has the exterior ever been cleaned, I wonder?

You can't clean the marble. Even the concrete is beyond hope.

I wonder what the life expectancy for a concrete exterior is until it needs to be cleaned?
