FWIW, 1947 permit for the brick structure Pride currently occupies (5851) indicates it was intended for use as retail stores and "No food or beverages to be sold in stores." Apparently prior to '47 it was unimproved. (Another view below.)
We have discussed Station 61, Stooges and nearby locations several times. See e.g.,

Regarding the latter, the pictured 76 Station is long gone, but the round structure is still with us and GW observed that it had been a target of the Monkey Bandit in '32.

We've also seen another west view of Station 61 from what was once the ABC Market at
5800 W Third Street (Currently the Wine Hotel). New construction permit suggests that structure dates from 1932. This picture was obviously taken well before the post '47 construction of the brick building.

Returning to the image in front of the Station, looking to the (left) south side of the street is a big dark structure, that would have clearly predated Park La Brea. CD search has not yet revealed anything about that structure. Haven't tried aerial views, yet.
