The bickering will probably never end... nor will the boosterism...

Lets hope the skyline pix don't end either!

The Toronto CBD from the site of the new downtown Courthouse beside City Hall:

Pic by me today.

Fancy new Logo on Ernst & Young... or has it been there for a while now and I never noticed it?

Please point out where I even once said it shouldn't be called Mont Royal and secondly, two web sites (Wikipedia and the City of Montreal) both call it a mountain.

What Montreal lacks in height, it sure makes up in variety and textures.
Despite the vitriolic diatribe this post created, I will say thanks for re-posting it. It's an objectively great photograph. And great photo posts are the only reason I still visit this board.

What's the difference? Lake and mountain are somewhat arbitrary terms with deferring definitions. Lake Louise is tiny and pond like compared to bigger lakes the same way Mont Royal is tiny and hill like compared to larger mountains.

It was implied as its name makes it a mountain.

So who is doing the implying?

Anyhow, pictures and I'll be the first to say I'm not a great picture taker - I admire those that can work lighting conditions and general composition to create truly striking pictures...

Calgary's current three tallest with what will be a new third tallest creeping upwards...

Looking at the north side of Calgary's Chinatown...

Some of Calgary's newer towers bordering on the Eau Claire district of downtown...

Five of my favorite towers in Calgary...

Twins - Eighth Avenue Place and Bankers Hall - it's amazing how the EAP twins just seem to disappear into the sky...

Nice except for le Cantlie hotel in the foreground. I stayed there a few times, but not for its appearance. The misaligned balconies really bother me...looks kind of like an abacus except I can't shift the balconies where I want them to be.

The balconies are odd but, I don't mind the details. Could be quite sharp painted white with black in the grooves.

I like the Cantlie. Kind of an underrated brutalist piece.

It's main failure is its eastern blank wall. One day I'm sure we'll see the 5-storey bank building next to it make way for something taller, hiding that blank wall.

I think they should just remove the balconies in general...then just renovate the building a bit....perhaps fix the rooftop and bottom area bit, and have someone make a mural over that blank wall.

Ovall, I like that building, it has some good design merit and massing, just needs to be a bit fixed up.
