Thank god a CVS ! that will save the residents of this area a 2 block drive to the next nearest CVS, in the rough Michigan ave area.

Yeah no shit, right? Sadly, they certainly would drive the two blocks it would take to get to the next nearest location. What else are ridiculous off-street parking requirements for, after all?

Great set of shots, EB. You always display a comprehensive round-up of all the little details. I walked by Aqua the other day, and I was taking a good look at the underside of the edge where the podium facade "curls up" at the NW corner, and I couldn't help think of the underside of a mushroom. Incidental, or possible design influence?

Well consider the Chandler, Regatta, or the three North Harbor Dr towers; this brings a CVS much closer to them. Not to mention 3IC and Swissotel. Also, who knows what CVS plans now with its Michigan Plaza store?
And this must be the first CVS ever with a stainless steel sign - kind of sexy; probably a tip of the hat from Rhode Island to Aqua's cutting edge design.

Yeah, I don't see what the problem you guys have with a CVS here.

First of all, who the hell is going to drive to this CVS when they are within one or two blocks and they would have to call up their vehicle from their parking garage, then drive through the complicated multi level streets to CVS's parking garage, drive in there, find parking, maybe pay for it, then take another elevator back up to CVS. Clearly CVS is going to be drawing many walking residents in this location. There are steps being constructed to the park (and therefore rest of LSE) right at the end up the road here.

Second, yeah the other CVS is like 2 blocks away as the crow flies, but its in a completely different world as far as a realistic urban setting goes. Not only is it on Michigan avenue where it is crowded with tourists at all times, but it is on the other side of a massive office complex. This CVS is right in the middle of a huge district or massive apartment buildings and a couple large hotels, there is going to be a completely different type and quantity of demand over here.

Third, Yeah if you can fly you can get to the other CVS in 2 blocks, but remember, there are massive cliffs formed by Illinois center between that CVS and here, so really its more like 3 or 4 blocks if you take into account that you either have to take stairs or zig zag through streets (if you are in a car or wheel chair) to get there. Illinois Center is not a pedestrian friendly place and you all know that. Do you really think its a bad thing that a CVS will be located closer to like 10k units of residential space and on the other side of the Illinois Center maze?

Seriously, lighten up people...
