Looks like they’re pretty dead set on that being the design. Is the neighborhood meeting on the 31st? If so, what’s even going to happen there in reality?

I'm assuming this project to commence construction late spring of 2026 after meetings design reviews , permitting , etc.. I believe the U/C Marriot should be finished by then so great timing as the empty lot is being used now for staging materials for the hotel , Woo Hoo as it will be the same height as Salt lake City's new tallest the Astra @ 451, awesome

Speaking of which, when will construction finish on the Marriott? It looks like it’s wrapping up quickly, so maybe around late winter?

Downtown

Marriott may open spring 2026, and 11th and Front Apartments schedule shows June 2026 construction start. Photos from July 19th.

It’s funny, I remember when the Marriott elevator shaft went up first, and I was kind of bummed by how short it looked. But now, with some mass built around it, it actually looks taller and adds some solid density to the area.

On the flip side, I thought the ICCU Tower would look taller....even at 199 ft. It’s technically 4 feet taller than The Grove Hotel, but it doesn’t feel as tall to me. To be fair, it’s still just a skeleton right now. Maybe once it gets some mass around it too, its appearance will change for me, just like the Marriott did.

Imagine 1985 when I last lived in Boise...there were about six buildings with any height at all. It's getting pretty impressive today.

But wow, would love to see the new tower get built.

Looks like a wiki was created about that 11th and front? Found it linked to another article. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/11th_and_Front

This IS awesome news. I was wondering how it would stack up against the tallest buildings in SLC.

So now it looks like a prime piece of property is up for sale the 1/2 block where WaFed has a 4 story building and underground parking structure , who knows what will be built there but as building trends are shaping up Downtown Boise could be seeing another Hotel w/500 rooms and maybe rising 30 stories or so , or maybe a combination of Condo's and apartment building rising 45 stories will see but with the massive expansion taking place with Micron and all the high paying thousands of jobs it wouldn't surprise me and Boise being ranked highly as a place to retire in National publications , I believe the timing couldn't be better for all us skyscraper guru's to be seeing the Boise skyline evolve with careful planning !! fingers crossed !

Haha, no doubt I've lived in Boise since the late 90s, from Seattle. I was the first one on this forum covering the Boise skyline under my first username, Saturn something, but I forgot it's been almost 20 years or so (I've been around here since 98 on this site ). But I never really post, but always browse!! It's been forever since the 2006 first and only Boise forum meetup, and I was there with some of the others still around. Went to the bar near 8th st. Anyway, I'm off track, maybe we can meet up again with all the new guys over the years..

When do you think the property will get bought up? Depending on who buys it could indicate what’s gonna go there.

A skyscraper meetup would be cool.

Saturn-something sounds familiar! That totally rings a bell. I vaguely remember a meet-up forming around the time I first signed up to the forum. I never made it, but I thought the idea was cool.

Some member have definitely come and gone. I remember back when I was working out at Micron, around 2006 or 2007, I was chatting with a guy in IT and we both realized we were on this forum. I can’t remember his name, but I’ll never forget his Ralph Wiggum (from The Simpsons) avatar. lol Good times. Crazy how fast time flies.

How tall would this even be? 25 stories seems pretty tall…

Also, what’s even the chance of it happening? It’d be super cool to get a skyscraper around the BSU area…
