A bit of movement on this one with the filing of its site plan application (including redesign of the public space).

This one bounced up and down on the height front: first proposed at 59s, then knocked down to 46s for approval and then back up to 49s. Right of centre in the rendering below.

Really loving 425 Bloor West! And is it me, or did they change the cladding and massing of the base of 8 Wellesley? Looks like the glass curtain wall (or window wall) has been replaced by pre-cast grey brick panels, and the continuation of the square metal panels that had a slight cantilever of it's own under the main cantilever seems to be gone as well.

^^^ 8 Wellesley's podium design has been tweaked but I don't think it's been value-engineered. I just think the architects made some more choices since the renderings were released. And that's pre-cast iron-spot brick panel and it looks good in person.

^ Yeah, I don't think it necessarily looks value engineered or worse than the renderings - could end up looking better once finished - just pointing out the differences.

A couple of updates since last fall when this was recommended for approval.

The project is now Approved… and I inadvertently posted the height of the shorter 75 storey north tower which is 247 metres. The taller of the 2 towers is the south tower which is 255.76 metres (78 storeys).

Includes residential units many of which are likely targeting TMU (formerly Ryerson) students, retail, dedicated community space, parkland and POPs between the towers.

Curtain-wall glass starting on the tower floors. Check out the SkyTower’s curtain-wall clad podium in the centre of the pic versus the window-wall cheap-out of the Phase 1 podium on the far right.
