I thought the proportions were going to be all off on this tower when I first saw the renderings, but it's turning out great!

Smile Current weather

Do they ever report what the temp and Windchill is up at the top where they are working? If it was 60 below wind chill at the ground it would be something to know what it was up at the enclosure.

There is little wind chill in the enclosure because it is enclosed.

Stick to actual temperatures.

This is clearly a troll post. Its a shame that your envy of Chicago is so strong that you created a new account just to make your first post, a troll post. Temperatures never reached 60 below. As Harry said -- stick to actual facts.

Really amazing shots guys. That is true dedication right there. I wish the city could look that way when the weather is in the mid 70s.

It's probably topped out, right? What a (beautiful) monster.

Stay safe in the cold!

My wife, Amy, and I went out to the lakefront yesterday to check out the scene.

She took this shot of Vista with her telephoto

If you're interested, here are my shots from the past few days > https://nickulivieriphotography.zenf...inter2018-2019

In addition to what I said above I also think that at a certain point in midsummer those 'shadows' will refelct the rising sun and will be orange glowing zig-zags.

For a second there, I thought someone braved the cold for photos today haha!

Anyways, the LSD straight shot will be stellar once complete. The glass is looking on point (almost a combo between BCBS' blue & the Tides' tealish).

I love watching it rise from my balcony (will be able to see the top 1/3), now the glass just need to play catchup to the core (only a couple more floors to go at this point).

I did!

Haven't finished edits, but here's a pano of the skyline from Adler. I'm really blown away by how tall Vista appears from this spot. Haven't been out there in a few months. Big difference. May have one or two closer-up shots, and will post once I get it edited.

This building is stunning. Easily my top 10 favorite in Chicago.

Thanks for the photo, Nick! My only request (next time you're at the Adler) is to include Essex in the pan if possible. I love the skyline height pop is brings.

Stay warm!

I also think it's time to include Nema in the skyline too!

It's possible to get them all from Northerly Island (this is from Jan 13, sorry for my shit phone picture):

I went back out just for you. Kidding! Wanted to get to North Avenue (maybe tomorrow), but left a little late and was worried I'd miss the end of blue hour so I stopped back at Adler

I vividly remember going on a field trip to what’s now Museum Campus as a young kid. Standing out front afterward with our chaperones, we all marveled at how tall the original Prudential Building was, then went to its observatory at the top. It was an exciting day in a much lower Chicago. Years later as I graduated from high school in Glen Ellyn, friends and I went to the newly opened John Hancock observatory.

I’ve loved keeping up with the city throughout the years, but as a long time certified Northern California weather wimp, no longer visiting when it’s too hot or too cold. Thanks guys for all of the great shots in your threads!

^ Thanks for sharing your fond memories. Prudential just gets lost in the shuffle now. What a time to be alive

Are you one of the kids in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJnNN4wHSCA

The Prudential Building was clearly the tallest (by roof height) and biggest building at that time. Vista Tower will be almost exactly twice as tall.

I run around Shedd Aquarium 3-4 times a week (though certainly not THIS week), so I've seen it grow, and even I am amazed by its presence.

Nick, you should get an updated shot of the tower from its base and do a side-by-side comparison with your 'Shop job when we thought this thing would top out without any glass.
